Matthew 24:3-14 3 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?” 4 And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. 6 And you will hear of wars and rumours of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all[a] these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences,[b] and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows. 9 “Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. 10 And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another.
11 Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. 12 And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. 13 But he who endures to the end shall be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.

DAILY CHRISTIAN BIBLICAL QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS:
THE CONSEQUENCES OF MIXING NEW WITH OLD
QUESTION: Re: Matt. 9:16-17 I understand the literal meaning of these verses but don’t understand the point Jesus was making in the context of the chapter. Could you shed some light on this please?
ANSWER: In the preceding verses, John the Baptist’s disciples had asked why the Lord’s disciples didn’t fast the way they did. (John was the last of the Old Testament prophets and had many disciples.)
Matt. 9:16-17 gives us the heart of the Lord’s response,
“No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment, for the patch will pull away from the garment, making the tear worse. Neither do people pour new wine into old wineskins. If they do, the skins will burst; the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. No, they pour new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.”
The idea behind these verses is that Jesus didn’t come to “patch up” their religion, or to add something new to it. His purpose was to do something no amount of religious observation had ever been able to do, and that’s to save us from our sins once and for all. It was a whole new thing.
He was using everyday experiences to show the consequences of mixing new with old. He could have said, “You can’t mix faith and works” (verified in Ephes. 2:8-9), and, “You can’t mix grace and the law” (verified in Romans 3:20-24). In other words, you can’t mix the New Covenant and the Old Covenant. Trying to do so is destructive to both.
THE DEVASTATING CONSEQUENCES OF IGNORANCE
QUESTION: Re: Fulfilling God’s Will? You said, “Because of this they were completely ignorant of the signs of the times in which they lived, and rejected the King they had been waiting over 2000 years for. Sadly, much of the “church” has made the same mistake and for the most part, is just as ignorant of the signs of our times. The results will be just as devastating.”
It’s true and a bit depressing that comparatively few Christians are interested in studying the prophecies of His return, and I understand how devastating that was for Israel to pay no attention to the evidence. They still suffer the judgmental consequences. Can you please explain your last statement as to how ignorance in the church will be just as devastating?
ANSWER: Notice the quotation marks around the word “church”. They mean I’m using the word in its broadest possible sense to include both those who are part of the Church and those who only think they are. There are lots of people who self identify as Christians.
They attend religious services on Sunday mornings, contribute to their church’s support, and do good works. They think they’re in the Church, but reject the idea that they have to be born again to be saved. They think that belonging to a church and trying to live a good life is all that’s necessary. They don’t believe that Jesus is God in human form and may not even believe in His resurrection. They have no idea He’s coming back to judge the world and wouldn’t believe it if you told them.
They are people we call “Christians in name only” and they make up a substantial portion of the “church.” After the rapture, many who are left behind will become true believers while others will not. But believer or not, they’ll all suffer through the end times judgments, and the results will be devastating. This will be especially true for those who never become believers because they will face eternal separation from God.
“I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless He is born again” (John 3:3)

WORLD WAR 3? A TOP IRANIAN OFFICIAL TAUNTS TRUMP: “THEY ARE NOT READY FOR A WAR, SPECIALLY WHEN ISRAEL IS WITHIN OUR RANGE”
The Iranians are openly threatening to start firing missiles at Israel if Trump decides to attack Iran. And this threat should not be taken lightly, because Iran has a highly sophisticated ballistic missile arsenal, and Hezbollah has approximately 150,000 missiles pointed directly at Israel right now. If the order is given, the Iranians and their proxy Hezbollah could rain an enormous amount of death and destruction down upon Israel, and of course Israel would hit them back even harder. We are talking about a scenario that could potentially trigger World War 3, and the Iranians apparently believe that the possibility of such an outcome will keep Trump from taking military action against them. The following comes from the Times of Israel… (READ MORE...)
WHY IS PRESSURE MOUNTING BETWEEN THE U.S. AND IRAN?
Ron Kampeas – https://www.jpost.com/printarticle.aspx?id=589385
The Trump administration sees Iran’s behavior as another instance of why it pulled the U.S. out of the deal in the first place: the Iranian regime is not trustworthy.
Iran announced this week that it is changing a key term of the Iran nuclear deal – and plans to make an even more dramatic change in 60 days if partners don’t ease conditions.
The partners – Europe chief among them – complained, loudly. But so did an ex-partner: the United States.
The Trump administration immediately retaliated, expanding sanctions on Iran after Tehran said it would fiddle with a deal that the Trump administration thinks should be null and void.
“Hey, this is binary. You’re either in compliance or you’re not,” Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in Baghdad on Tuesday, a day before Iranian President Hassan Rouhani announced the change, and at the same time that the Trump administration was celebrating the one-year anniversary of pulling out of the deal. (Reports of Rouhani’s planned announcement had already emerged.)
Pompeo’s statements sound a little confusing to observers who have followed the Trump administration’s stance on the deal. Trump has called the agreement the “worst” deal ever.
So what’s going on?
The answer is that the Trump administration sees Iran’s behavior as another instance of why it pulled the U.S. out of the deal in the first place: the Iranian regime is not trustworthy.
“Cheating just a little bit is still cheating. And in the context of Iran’s nuclear commitments, it will not be tolerated,” Brian Hook, the State Department’s special representative for Iran, said Wednesday at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. “If the clerics in Tehran choose, as the Iranian people are demanding, to play by the rules, respect the sovereignty of their neighbors, and abide by international obligations and commitments, the United States will be ready and willing to engage.”
What Iran is planning: Under the 2015 deal, Iran was permitted to enrich uranium for peaceful medical research purposes but was required to sell its surplus. Iran is now immediately keeping its surplus low-enriched uranium, which it had sold overseas. Low enriched uranium may be repurposed to make nuclear weapons. In 60 days, unless its partners take steps to ease its economic isolation, Iran has threatened to remove caps on uranium enrichment levels and resume work on its Arak plutonium nuclear facility.
How the Trump administration reacted: It added new sanctions on Iran’s metals sector, on top of sanctions already on Iran’s financial and energy sectors.
How partners to the deal reacted: The European Union and three signatories to the deal, Britain, France and Germany, demanded Iran to stick to the deal and urged the United States to butt out.
“We regret the re-imposition of sanctions by the United States following their withdrawal from the JCPOA,” a joint statement said, using the acronym for the deal’s name, the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action. “We call on countries not party to the JCPOA to refrain from taking any actions that impede the remaining parties’ ability to fully perform their commitments.”
Russia and China, the other parties to the deal, are equally as committed to making it work.
What the Trump administration wants: They want the deal to collapse and for Iran to acquiesce to its demands that it end all nuclear activity; that Iran stop producing ballistic missiles; that it stop interfering in the region and elsewhere (the United States sees Iran’s malign hand in Yemen, Iraq and Syria, and as far afield as Venezuela); and that it improve human rights for its citizens.
Is the pressure working? The Trump administration thinks so.
“For the first time in a very long time, we are raising the costs of Iran’s expansionism and making clear that this kind of blackmail will no longer work,” Hook said. “We are making it unsustainable for Iran to support terrorist proxies and militias that for decades have defied the basic standards of behavior observed by normal countries.”
He listed, among other consequences, the effective expulsion of Iran from the SWIFT international financial messaging system and the admission by Hezbollah, Iran’s ally in Lebanon, that it is starved for cash.
The other partners to the deal are committed to resisting the pressure, and the Europeans are pressing ahead with plans to set up a complex barter system, INSTEX, that would work around the U.S. sanctions.
What happens next? Someone blinks. John Bolton, Trump’s national security adviser, last week announced the deployment of extra forces to the region to counter what the United States says is Iran’s heightened menace. He cited, but did not define, “troubling and escalatory indications and warnings” from Iran.
Trump, reportedly wary of Bolton’s overseas interventionism, might want to replicate his direct overtures to North Korea by talking directly with Iran. (No predecessor ever did: The Obama administration stuck to multilateral talks.)
“What I’d like to see with Iran, I’d like Iran to call me,” he said Thursday at a White House briefing with reporters on planned reforms to medical billing.
Iran news: “Sabotage attacks” on Saudi Arabia oil tankers near Fujairah port in UAE stoke fear of US-Iran conflict today – Live Updates –
Saudi Arabia claims “sabotage attacks” left two of its oil tankers damaged off the coast of the UAE, not far from the vital Strait of Hormuz shipping channel.
Nobody is casting blame yet, but it comes just days after the U.S. warned that “Iran or its proxies” could target commercial vessels in the region.
Britain says the incident highlights the danger of “a conflict happening by accident” between the U.S. and Iran.
Mike Pompeo is expected to meet European leaders as they try to keep the nuclear deal viable months after President Trump abandoned it.
Saudi Arabia said Monday two of its oil tankers were sabotaged off the coast of the United Arab Emirates in attacks that caused “significant damage” to the vessels. One of the ships was en route to pick up Saudi oil to take to the United States, a Saudi government minister said.
The announcement by the kingdom’s energy minister, Khalid al-Falih, came on the heels of a new warning to sailors in the region from the U.S. While no blame was cast at Iran or any other nation for the alleged attack on the ships, it fuelled fears that a miscommunication or small act of antagonism in the politically charged region could quickly escalate into a full conflict.
Late last week the U.S. Maritime Administration warned commercial shipping companies that from the beginning of May there had been, “an increased possibility that Iran and/or its regional proxies could take action against U.S. and partner interests, including oil production infrastructure, after recently threatening to close the Strait of Hormuz. Iran or its proxies could respond by targeting commercial vessels, including oil tankers, or U.S. military vessels in the Red Sea, Bab-el-Mandeb Strait, or the Persian Gulf.”
Emirati officials have declined to elaborate on the nature of the sabotage or say who might have been responsible.
A total of four tankers sustained some damage on Sunday, according to UAE officials. One of the others was Norwegian owned, but officials in that country did not immediately confirm any links to the apparent attacks on the Saudi-flagged vessels.
Shortly after the Saudi announcement, Iran’s Foreign Ministry called for further clarification about what exactly happened with the Saudi tankers. The ministry’ spokesman, Abbas Mousavi, was quoted by the official IRNA news agency as saying there should be more information about the incident.
Mousavi also warned against any “conspiracy orchestrated by ill-wishers” and “adventurism by foreigners” to undermine the maritime region’s stability and security.
An Iranian lawmaker suggested in the country’s parliament on Monday that the attacks on the Saudi ships could have been carried out by unspecified “saboteurs” from an also unspecified third country.
Even without any actual accusation that Iran or its “proxies” were behind the purported attack on the Saudi tankers, the incident clearly demonstrated how high tensions are in the region, and some other countries were quick to express their concern.
Britain’s Foreign Minister Jeremy Hunt warned of the risks of an “accident” sparking a conflict between the United States and Iran.
“We are very worried about the risk of a conflict happening by accident with an escalation that is unintended,” Hunt said in Brussels, where U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo was expected to pay a hastily-arranged visit on Monday to discuss the Iran standoff with European counterparts.
Underlying the regional risk, the general-secretary of the six-nation Gulf Cooperation Council described the alleged sabotage as a “serious escalation” in an overnight statement.
“Such irresponsible acts will increase tension and conflicts in the region and expose its peoples to great danger,” Abdullatif bin Rashid al-Zayani said. Bahrain, Egypt and Yemen’s internationally recognized government similarly condemned the alleged sabotage.
ON THE BRINK: U.S. ISSUES WARNING AFTER SAUDI TANKERS PRESUMABLY DAMAGED BY IRAN, FEARS THAT TEHRAN ‘MAY FIRE ROCKETS AT ISRAEL’
Saudi Arabia said Monday two of its oil tankers were sabotaged off the coast of the United Arab Emirates in attacks that caused “significant damage” to the vessels, one of them as it was en route to pick up Saudi oil to take to the US.
Energy Minister Khalid al-Falih’s comments came as the US issued a new warning to sailors and the UAE’s regional allies condemned the reported sabotage Sunday of four ships off the coast of the port city of Fujairah. The announcement came just hours after Iranian and Lebanese media outlets aired false reports of explosions at the city’s port.
Emirati officials have declined to elaborate on the nature of the sabotage or say who might have been responsible. However, the reports come as the US has warned ships that “Iran or its proxies” could be targeting maritime traffic in the region, and as America is deploying an aircraft carrier and B-52 bombers to the Persian Gulf to counter alleged threats from Tehran.
Tensions have risen in the year since US President Donald Trump withdrew the United States from the 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and world powers, restoring American sanctions that have pushed Iran’s economy into crisis. Last week, Iran warned it would begin enriching uranium at higher levels in 60 days if world powers failed to negotiate new terms for the deal.
In his statement, al-Falih said the attacks on the two tankers happened at 6 a.m. Sunday.
“One of the two vessels was on its way to be loaded with Saudi crude oil from the port of Ras Tanura, to be delivered to Saudi Aramco’s customers in the United States,” al-Falih said. “Fortunately, the attack didn’t lead to any casualties or oil spill; however, it caused significant damage to the structures of the two vessels.”
Saudi Arabia did not identify the vessels involved, nor did it say whom it suspected of carrying out the alleged sabotage.
Underlining the regional risk, the general-secretary of the six-nation Gulf Cooperation Council described the alleged sabotage as a “serious escalation” in an overnight statement.
“Such irresponsible acts will increase tension and conflicts in the region and expose its peoples to great danger,” Abdullatif bin Rashid al-Zayani said
Britain warned Monday that conflict might break out “by accident” between the United States and Iran amid rising tensions, as European Union powers gathered to thrash out ways to keep the nuclear deal with the Islamic Republic afloat.
The warning came after the United States announced the deployment of the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier strike group to the Persian Gulf to counter an alleged but still-unspecified threat from Iran, the latest in a long line of such deployments to the strategic region.
“We are very worried about the risk of a conflict happening by accident, with an escalation that is unintended really on either side but ends with some kind of conflict,” British Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt told reporters in Brussels.
“What we need is a period of calm to make sure that everyone understands what the other side is thinking,” Hunt said. He added that he would “be sharing those concerns” Monday with European partners and visiting US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
The United States pulled out of the 2015 nuclear accord a year ago, saying the deal does nothing to stop Iran developing missiles or destabilizing the Middle East, while not going far enough in preventing the Iranians from ever obtaining nuclear weapons. The Europeans insist the agreement was never meant to address the missile and regional issues but has been effective in curbing Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
Tensions mounted last week, when Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said that signatories to the deal now have 60 days to come up with a plan to shield his country from the sanctions imposed by US President Donald Trump.
Israel’s energy minister, a confidant of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, warned Sunday that escalating tensions between the US and Iran may lead the Islamic Republic to launch a missile assault against Israel.
“Things are heating up,” Yuval Steinitz told the Ynet news site. “I wouldn’t rule anything out. Iran may fire rockets at Israel.”
Steinitz added that Iran may also choose to attack Israel by activating its proxies, Lebanon’s Hezbollah or Gaza’s Islamic Jihad.
“The American sanctions are breaking the neck of the Iranian economy, and a new and stronger wave [of sanctions] is still to come,” he warned, suggesting that the danger was unlikely to pass in the near future.
Speaking later Sunday to the Kan state radio station, Steinitz stressed that he was not privy to any particular intelligence information on Iranian plans, but noted that Iran was facing drastic economic pressure and “anything could happen” in such a climate.
The Iranians could “go crazy” and “declare war on the whole Middle East,” he said.
There were some in Iran who recognized the imperative to dismantle their rogue nuclear program, and others who would seek to retain it in the hope that the regime could weather the current economic crisis.
Steinitz’s comments follow a report on Israel’s Channel 13 on Friday that said Israel had warned the US that Iran was contemplating targeting Saudi oil production facilities.
The unsourced report said the Iranians were “considering various hostile acts” against American or American-allied targets. Tehran had looked at targeting American bases in the Gulf, but that had been deemed too drastic a step, it claimed.
The main target then became “Saudi oil production facilities,” the report said. Such a strike would also send world oil prices soaring and enable Iran to get more income from its oil sales, the report added.
Channel 13 also quoted unnamed Arab intelligence sources as saying there was a debate raging in the Iranian leadership about striking US and US-allied targets, with some in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps pushing for attacks, including against Israeli targets, while others cautioned that it would be “suicidal” to get into a serious military conflict with the US.
Earlier last week, the same channel was the first to report that the Israeli Mossad had tipped off the White House two weeks ago about an Iranian plan to attack either a US or US-allied target. That earlier report did not specify potential targets for such an ostensible attack.
On Friday, the US Maritime Administration warned that Iran could try to attack American commercial vessels, including oil tankers, Reuters reported.
On Sunday, the move was dismissed by the head of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as “psychological war.”
The Pentagon’s deployment of the USS Lincoln, Major General Hossein Salami told lawmakers at a parliament session in Tehran, was part of the American military’s regular rotation schedule.
“Commander Salami, with attention to the situation in the region, presented an analysis that the Americans have started a psychological war because the comings and goings of their military is a normal matter,” Reuters quoted parliamentary leadership spokesman Behrouz Nemati as saying, summarizing Salami’s comments to the parliament’s ICANA news site.
On Thursday, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo threatened a “swift and decisive” American response to any attack by Iran.
“The regime in Tehran should understand that any attacks by them or their proxies of any identity against US interests or citizens will be answered with a swift and decisive US response,” Pompeo said in a statement.
The United Arab Emirates has said that FOUR COMMERCIAL SHIPS WERE HIT BY “SABOTAGE” IN ITS WATERS, HOURS AFTER DENYING REPORTS OF EXPLOSIONS AT AN OIL TANKER TERMINAL. The incident comes as US/Iran tension ratchets up.
The four vessels were targeted by “sabotage operations” in waters near the emirate of Fujairah, the country’s foreign ministry said on Sunday. The exact nature of the sabotage was not revealed, nor were the nationalities of the ships. There were no reported casualties.
“Subjecting commercial vessels to sabotage operations and threatening the lives of their crew is considered a dangerous development,” the foreign ministry said in a statement, adding that it is investigating the alleged incident.
The statement came hours after Fujairah’s government denied reports that an explosion had rocked an oil terminal at the emirate’s port. Lebanese broadcaster Mayadeen first reported the explosion, before the story was picked up by Iran’s Press TV. Officials in Fujairah called on the media to “investigate accurately and rely on official sources.”
Although the exact events are unknown, Iranian lawmaker Heshmatollah Falahatpisheh tweeted that “the explosions of Fujairah showed that the security of the south of the Persian Gulf is like glass.”
Should the security situation in the region deteriorate, much is at stake. Fujairah backs on to the Gulf of Oman on the south side of the Strait of Hormuz. With the UAE and Saudi Arabia on one side and Iran on the other, one-third of the world’s oil at sea transits the strait, which is only 39 kilometers wide.
The UAE did not directly blame Iran for the alleged sabotage, but its claim comes just days after the United States Maritime Administration warned that “Iran and/or its regional proxies could take action against US and partner interests, including oil production infrastructure” in the region. Saudi Arabia and the UAE are steadfast American allies.
Egypt, another American ally in the Middle East, sided with the UAE’s take on events, condemning the alleged act of sabotage later on Sunday night.
Four cargo ships were hit by “sabotage operations” on May 12 near UAE Gulf of Oman waters off the Fujaira emirate. The UAE Foreign Ministry in Abu Dhabi reported that no injuries or spillage of harmful chemicals or fuel had occurred, indicating that the ships were fuel tankers. Work continued as usual at Fujairah port, the statement said.
The UAE had denied an earlier report by local media of “heavy explosions” at the port of Fujairah early Sunday. According to first reports, US and French warplanes were flyng overhead at the time and from 7 to 10 oil tankers were in flames. The UAE is currently expanding the port to hold the world’s largest crude oil storage facility, capable of storing up to 14 million barrels of oil.
DEBKAfile’s military and intelligence sources report that the UAE ministry’s statement conceals more than it reveals. It is obvious that someone in the Gulf region launched an attack on oil and gas shipping in the region. IT CAN HARDLY BE DOUBTED THAT THE AGGRESSOR IN THIS CASE WAS IRAN OR ONE OF ITS ALLIES OR PROXIES in Tehran’s first major reprisal for US sanctions on its oil exports. Iranian officials have declared that if Tehran can’t export its oil, neither will anyone else. Washington has so far made no response to this attack which has undoubtedly sparked intense deliberations.
Waging War on Iran without Turkey? Is Turkey Sleeping with the Enemy? The Russia -Turkey – Iran “Triple Entente”
What is now unfolding is a new Triple Entente between Turkey, Iran and Russia
TURKEY, NATO EXIT
Contemporary developments point to a historical shift in the structure of military alliances which is contributing to weakening US hegemony in the Middle East as well as creating an unspoken crisis within the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
Waging US-NATO-Israel war on Iran with or without Turkey?
Turkey is NATO’s heavy weight, it is the only NATO member state which is (largely) situated in the Middle East bordering onto Iran.
In early April, Secretary State Mike Pompeo met up with his counterpart Turkey’s Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu in Ankara. The Pompeo-Cavusoglu confrontation made the headlines, In turn, Vice President Pence openly threatened the Turkish government:
Vice President Mike Pence warned Turkey against going ahead with the purchase of the Russian-made [S-400] missile system, hours after the Turkish foreign minister said the acquisition was “a done deal” … Pence said the weapons purchase could “threaten the very cohesion of this alliance… We’ve also made it clear that we’ll not stand idly by while NATO allies purchase weapons from our adversaries,“ Pence said. (CNN, April 3, 2019)
Mike Pence is right: The cohesion of NATO is at stake. And Turkey cannot be trusted as an ally of the US.
Turkey’s NATO-Exit? It is almost a done deal.
And if Turkey exits NATO, other countries might follow suit.Something which Washington would want to avoid.
In the course of the month of April (following Pompeo’s diplomatic blunder in Ankara) Turkey and Iran have strengthened their bilateral relations.
Pompeo’s counterpart Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu has retorted: “We do not accept unilateral sanctions and impositions on how we build our relationship with our neighbors.” (quoted in Al Monitor, April 29, 2019)
US, NATO, Israel Military logistics are integrated, and Turkey is still (officially) part of NATO.
The evolving structure of military alliances (and cross-cutting coalitions) including the crisis within NATO does not favour the launching of a large scale military operation against Iran. One assumes that Bolton-Pompeo are fully aware of this issue. Or are they?
Turkey is a NATO Member State which is sleeping with the enemy. Given It’s relationship with Russia and Iran, from a logistical point of view the practice of coordinated US-NATO military planning is in jeopardy.
This does not exclude the conduct of other forms of warfare including economic sanctions, sabotage, Bolton-style spontaneous acts of provocation, covert support of terrorist organizations, etc.
A senior Iranian Revolutionary Guards commander said on Sunday the U.S. military presence in the Gulf used to be a serious threat but now represents a target, the Iranian Students’ News Agency (ISNA) reported.
The U.S. military has sent forces, including an aircraft carrier and B-52 bombers, to the Middle East in a move that U.S. officials said was made to counter “clear indications” of threats from Iran to American forces in the region.
The USS Abraham Lincoln is replacing another carrier rotated out of the Gulf last month.
“An aircraft carrier that has at least 40 to 50 planes on it and 6,000 forces gathered within it was a serious threat for us in the past but now it is a target and the threats have switched to opportunities,” said Amirali Hajizadeh, head of the Guards’ aerospace division.
“If (the Americans) make a move, we will hit them in the head,” he added, according to ISNA.
U.S. President Donald Trump also has increased economic pressure on Iran, moving to cut off all its oil exports, to try to get Tehran to curb its nuclear and missile programs as well as end support for proxies in Syria, Iraq, Lebanon and Yemen.
Speaking to CNBC in an interview to be broadcast on Monday, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the U.S. deployments came in response to intelligence about potential Iranian attacks and aimed both to deter them and to be able to respond if necessary.
“We’ve seen this reporting,” Pompeo said. “It’s real. It appears to be something that is current, that is things we’re worried about today.”
“In the event that Iran decided to come after an American interest – whether that be in Iraq or Afghanistan or Yemen or any place in the Middle East – we are prepared to respond in an appropriate way,” he said, adding that “our aim is not war.”
Iranian navy commander Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi said on Sunday that American forces must exit, according to ISNA. “The presence of the Americans in the Persian Gulf region has reached its end and they must leave the region,” Khanzadi said.
Major General Hossein Salami, appointed head of the Guards last month, told parliament on Sunday the United States had started a psychological war in the region, the parliamentary spokesman said.
“Commander Salami, with attention to the situation in the region, presented an analysis that the Americans have started a psychological war because the comings and goings of their military is a normal matter,” spokesman Behrouz Nemati said, according to parliament’s ICANA news site. Legislation proposed in the Canadian province of Ontario would criminalize public displays by Christians deemed hateful to Muslims, the LGBT community and other victim groups designated by the left.
The bill, “Prohibiting Hate-Promoting Demonstrations at Queen’s Park Act, 2019,” bans any demonstration, rally or other activity that is deemed hateful by the Speaker from being permissible on legislative grounds – effectively insulating the government from Christian speech.
Life Site News explains that the nebulous nature of Canada’s anti-hate laws essentially give leftist legislators carte blanche to ban all Christian protest:
The problem with this bill, however, lies in the fact that the definition of “hate” is uncertain under Canadian law. As a result, unfortunately, the use of the word “hate” can be a useful tool for some to prevent differing views from being expressed. That is, the word “hate” can be used to silence opposing views expressed when, in fact, the views are simply a reasonable expression of belief.
This concern is based on actual experience. Canadians have already experienced the contempt shown by the Supreme Court of Canada towards Section 2 of the Charter of Rights which provides for freedom of opinion, expression and religion. In the Trinity Western Christian University case (2018), a private Christian university’s moral covenant was deemed hateful and discriminating. In the Bill Whatcott case (2013), the Supreme Court of Canada concluded that the effects of an expression used, not the communicator’s intent, are what is relevant.
The court went on to conclude that “truthful statements and sincerely held beliefs do not affect the finding of “hate”. Mr. Whatcott merely expressed in his pamphlet the well-established facts about homosexuality which the court held to be “hateful”. It is worth noting that the Saskatchewan Court of Appeal, presumably consisting of equally learned judges, had previously concluded that the pamphlet was not hateful.
The Supreme Court of Canada prides itself on being a “progressive” court and has an established bias as evidenced in a series of decisions that have struck down laws based on traditional values. There is little likelihood that the court will protect tradition-based groups if they are denied the right to demonstrate at the provincial legislature.
As Canada becomes more restrictive toward Christianity, they open their arms for the LGBT agenda and Islam to take a foothold in their culture.
The Royal Canadian Mint issued a commemorative coin last month to celebrate homosexual love as a core principle of Canadian society.
“Marking 50 years since a landmark decision that began a process of legal reforms to recognize the rights of LGBTQ2 Canadians is a powerful way to recognize Canada’s profound belief in equality and inclusion,” said Marie Lemay, president and CEO of the Royal Canadian Mint.
Meanwhile, the far-left Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has been revealed to be plotting different ways to bring ISIS terrorists to his nation and possibly be re-introduced in public life.
“None of the options are ideal and all present different challenges and risks,” said the three-page secret paper, which was heavily redacted after its release through the Access to Information Act.
As globalism and liberalism takes a stronger hold in Canada, the government can be expected to become even more hostile to Christianity and more hospitable to subversive agendas.
The Chinese Government has been waging a war against all religion and the Catholic Church is one of the largest targets. According to recent news, the government had destroyed another church and is planning to destroy twenty-three more:
Last night, between May 6 and 7, the demolition of the Catholic church of the village of Shen Liu in the diocese of Handan (Hebei) began. So far the destruction has entailed removing a huge cross from the bell tower, but soon the walls will be torn down.
Local authorities have motivated their decision because the church and the cross are “too visible” from the nearby highway and passing cars can be distracted by the Christian symbol and the building. They also say that the church does not have all the necessary building permits. Instead parishioners maintain that the church – belonging to the official community – was built with the permission of the Religious Affairs Office.
According to some priests of the diocese, the local government has already planned the destruction of 23 other churches, all belonging to the official community.
The injunction to demolish Shen Liu’s church dates to April1 8, Holy Thursday. After much discussion with the priest in charge, the authorities agreed to removing only the cross and saving the building, however, only if it is used for other purposes not related to worship.
It is very likely that the priest will accept this condition. As one of the faithful comments, taking his cue from the game of Chess, he is willing “to sacrifice the knight to save the queen”.
The Diocese of Handan has already been warned that there are at least 24 churches that “have no building permits” and will therefore be destroyed. In fact, as the pastor of one of them explains, “at the beginning of the construction of the church, we filed the request and we also obtained permission from the Religious Affairs Office of the village, the municipality and the county. Now they say that it is no longer valid! “.
An elderly Shanxi priest comments laconically: “The Communist Party is like a moon: it changes every day, from the first to the 15th of the month!”
Throughout the diocese the faithful are organizing moments of prayer to Our Lady to “ask for her protection”, hoping that “the holders of power will change their mind and grant true religious freedom to the people”.
Others, especially among the priests, express some considerations: “The violence of the world can demolish the crosses and the churches, but it cannot destroy the Church and the faith in people’s hearts! According to history, totalitarianism has never succeeded in destroying the Church, on the contrary it has made it has purified and strengthened it! More than 2000 years have passed since the Church was founded: how many tyrants wanted to destroy it? And how many dynasties has the Church survived? No dictator can escape the grip of death, and no society always thrives; time is the best tool! The Zhou dynasty respected ceremonies and rituals, and therefore lasted 800 years; violence reigned in the Qin dynasty, and it lasted only two generations. Whoever gains the heart of the people will reign! “.
Another priest warns: “I fear that after starting from the diocese of Handan, they will soon pass to other dioceses to make them suffer the same fate. Long ago, Handan’s minor seminary was dissolved; then they put the Chinese flag in place of the cross. Thus, slowly, other dioceses will also have to follow the example. Last night is the first church in the Hebei province from which they have torn down the Cross. Who knows whose turn is next! “. (source)
While many factors contribute to their creation, market reversals only happen when a shift in sentiment occurs.
That’s why bull markets can go on for much longer than reason merits. As long as the marginal buyer is keeping the faith that he can sell to someone else for more, prices will remain elevated no matter how ugly the underlying fundamentals:
But at some point, the once-bulletproof euphoria becomes exhausted. And at the critical margin, net buyers become net sellers. (For a reminder of the supreme importance the margin plays, revisit our report The Marginal Buyer Holds The Pin That Pops Every Asset Bubble)
Here at PeakProsperity.com, we’ve been waving a giant warning flag of late that the scorching rally since January is a massive head-fake; unwarranted and completely unsustainable.
In our recent piece, The Bull(y) Rally, we exposed how an extreme and unnatural amount of hand-waving, jawboning and razzle-dazzle from the central State has been expended to ‘justify’ the ludicrous levels today’s prices are at given the preponderance of data showing the world economy is sliding into recession.
We’ve been shining a bright light on the technical compression seen in the major stock indices, indicative that a major breakout move is coming — one we’ve argued is much more likely to happen to the downside.
Well, with the recent fizzling of the principal storyline supporting the bullish narrative — an imminent trade deal with China — our predicted downside breakdown finally occurred this week:
Confidence in the ‘Never-ending Rally’ narrative has been broken. Sentiment has suddenly shifted from greed to fear:
So the big question is: What comes next?
Without a game-changing trade deal, all we’re left with is a slumping global economy, growing civil unrest across the world, a looming corporate debt crisis — all while are assets still hovering at all-time high valuation multiples.
Look back at that chart of the S&P. It’s dangerously now looking like the market has made a triple top over the past year.
So…the fundamentals are bad, the technicals are fast deteriorating, and market sentiment is collapsing.
This is one of those moments where it’s easy to predict that tough times lie ahead.
The intelligent question to be asking right now is: What to do about it?
At least six people were killed—including a priest—after a Catholic church was attacked and then set ablaze Sunday by a group of armed men in the western African country of Burkina Faso, according to local reports.
The attack happened in the northern town of Dablo, not far from the volatile border with Mali, at the beginning of Mass, Radio France Internationale reported.
A security source told the radio network that Mass had just begun when a “group of some 20 to 30 armed men” approached on motorcycles.
The mayor of the village, Ousmane Zongo, told Agence France-Presse the gunmen then burst into the church.
“They started firing as the congregation tried to flee,” he told the news agency. “They burned down the church, then shops and a small restaurant before going to the health center where they searched the premises and set fire to the head nurse’s vehicle.”
Zongo said the attack left the city “filled with panic,” according to Reuters.
“People are holed up at home. Shops and stores are closed,” he told AFP. “It’s practically a ghost town.”
While there was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack, violent Islamic extremism has been increasingly destabilizing the country. A number of jihadist groups are known to operate the area.
Another attack on a Christian church in the region last month after Sunday services left six dead, including a pastor. The Islamic extremists also have targeted foreigners, abducting and killing a Canadian geologist earlier this year.
The attack came two days after the release of two hostages in Burkina Faso during a daring French special forces military operation that resulted in the deaths of two of their own soldiers. The hostages who were rescued, according to France, were a U.S. citizen, a South Korean national, and French nationals Patrick Picque and Laurent Lassimouillas.
Over the past six months, at least 5,000 people have been killed in the Sahel – the sub-Saharan region of northern Africa – amid an escalation of inter-ethnic violence ranging from bombings to massacres to suicide attacks.
Fox News also reported last year that Al Qaeda too had gained a foothold in the region, spilling over the porous border from Mali with weapons pillaged from Libya after the fall of Muammar Qaddafi in 2012.
THE VATICAN IS BRINGING CHRISTIAN PASTORS TO ROME TO TRAIN THEM IN HOW TO PERFORM CATHOLIC RITUAL EXORCISMS USING SAINTS, ICONS AND GRAVEN IMAGES
WEBPAGE ADMINISTRATOR: “IT DOES NOT WORK” The demonic enclave will not be phased by icons or “mysticism”; and the Demons will play along with this “rubbish” to some extent, but it will not bear fruit.
PLEASE NOTE: I do not hate Catholics. I have a deep profound love for Catholics, and all of God’s creation, “As I do my deceased Mother who was a Catholic And I loved her dearly” and she is in heaven with the lord because she believed in the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour.
I just recognise Catholicism and the Catholic Religion as a False Religion, which will become the “MOTHER OF HARLETS” Mentioned in Revelation 17
Rev. 17:1 And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters:
Rev. 17:2 With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication.
Rev. 17:3 So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.
Rev. 17:4 And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication:
Rev. 17:5 And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.
Rev. 17:6 And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration.
Rev. 17:7 ¶ And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns.
Rev. 17:8 The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.
Rev. 17:9 And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth
And as God said in his word; Come out of her my people:
Rev. 18:4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, COME OUT OF HER, MY PEOPLE, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues
CAN A CHRISTIAN TODAY PERFORM AN EXORCISM?
QUESTION: “Can a Christian today perform an exorcism? What does the Bible say about casting out demons?”
ANSWER: Exorcism (commanding demons to leave other people) was practiced by various people in the Gospels and the Book of Acts—the disciples as part of Christ’s instructions (Matthew 10); others using Christ’s name (Mark 9:38); the children of the Pharisees (Luke 11:18-19); Paul (Acts 16); and certain exorcists (Acts 19:11-16).
It appears that the purpose of Jesus’ disciples performing exorcisms was to show Christ’s dominion over the demons (Luke 10:17) and to verify that the disciples were acting in His name and by His authority. It also revealed their faith or lack of faith (Matthew 17:14–21). It was obvious that this act of casting out demons was important to the ministry of the disciples. However, it is unclear what part casting out demons actually played in the discipleship process.
Interestingly, there seems to be a shift in the latter part of the New Testament regarding demonic warfare. The teaching portions of the New Testament (Romans through Jude) refer to demonic activity, yet do not discuss the actions of casting them out, nor are believers exhorted to do so.
WE ARE TOLD TO PUT ON THE ARMOR TO STAND AGAINST THEM (Ephesians 6:10-18). We are told to resist the devil (James 4:7), be careful of him (1 Peter 5:8), and not give him room in our lives (Ephesians 4:27). However, we are not told how to cast him or his demons out of others, or that we should even consider doing so.
The book of Ephesians gives clear instructions on how we are to have victory in our lives in the battle against the forces of evil. The first step is placing our faith in Christ (2:8-9), which breaks the rule of “the prince of the power of the air” (2:2). We are then to choose, again by God’s grace, to put off ungodly habits and to put on godly habits (4:17-24). This does not involve casting out demons, but rather renewing our minds (4:23). After several practical instructions on how to obey God as His children, we are reminded that there is a spiritual battle. It is fought with certain armor that allows us to stand against—not cast out—the trickery of the demonic world (6:10). We stand with truth, righteousness, the gospel, faith, salvation, the Word of God, and prayer (6:10-18).
It appears that as the Word of God was completed, the Christians had more weapons with which to battle the spirit world than the early Christians did. The role of casting out demons was replaced, for the most part, with evangelism and discipleship through the Word of God.
Since the methods of spiritual warfare in the New Testament DO NOT INVOLVE CASTING OUT DEMONS, it is difficult to determine instructions on how to do such a thing. If necessary at all, it seems that it is through exposing the individual to the truth of the Word of God and the name of Jesus Christ.

Police In New Zealand Looking To Make Arrest of Person Who Left A Chick Gospel Tract About Islam And Muslims Called ‘Men Of Peace’ In Mailbox
WEBPAGE ADMINISTRATOR: The Bible say’s “The Truth Will Set You Free”. I have lived by this statement all my life, and I am still giving out “Chick Tracts” wherever I can witness, and nothing will stop my will from doing so; But it looks like Major “Persecution” has already started, so even “Witnessing God’s Word” to someone now will be a hate crime punishable by imprisonment or worse – “Death”.
Police have taken fingerprints and have canvassed the neighbourhood to try and identify who delivered the material. The Pamphlet appears to originate from American evangelical Christian Jack Chick, who was known for his anti-Islam, anti-Judaism, anti-Catholic cartoons. The New Zealand Muslim Association president Ikhlaq Kashkari says he’s pleased the police are taking it so seriously. Mr Kashkari says we must remember these are just fringe elements. Police are urging anyone with similar concerns to contact them and say they are taking the matter seriously.

A Sri Lankan woman living in Mt Roskill, who didn’t want to be identified, told 1 News she saw someone leaving the leaflet in her letterbox.
I got saved and began handing out gospel tracts pretty soon after, a practice that I continue to this day. Before creating our own gospel tract, I loved to hand out the Chick gospel tracts. They had a great message, were drawn really well and people really like to read them. I read one about a year before a got saved and it made a strong impression on me. Jack Chick, before his death, dealt with many topics and warned people about the counterfeit Christian church known as Roman Catholicism, warned people about the LGBTQ, warned people about all sorts of topics. Chick also produced many tracts warning people about Islam and Sharia Law. Someone in New Zealand handed out some of these tracts, and now they are wanted by the police.
“Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.”
John 15:20 (KJV)
Do you get the sense that the wide-open window we have enjoyed for so long is starting to close? I do. Yes, this story takes place in New Zealand and not in America, but guess what? America is a kitten’s whisker away from turning Socialist. Could I see Americans in America arrested for handing out gospel tracts if the Democratic Socialists get power? I absolutely do! Read the story below and click on the link to read the new Chick tract on Islam in its entirety, and then ask yourself if it hate speech, or is it the gospel?
This article refers to people who hand out gospel tracts as ‘fringe elements’ and ‘extremists’, and calls for them to be locked up. Locked up for handing out gospel tracts. The door is closing people, and it’s closing fast. Like we always say, if you’re looking to get something done for the Lord, do it soon.
Police investigating after anti-Islam leaflets dropped in Auckland
NEWS NOW NEW ZEALAND: Police are investigating the distribution of anti-Islam material in Auckland letterboxes. She was so concerned about the material she took it to police. “I think they are taking it serious, they came immediately,” she said. Before the Christchurch terror attacks, she’d never seen such material. Mt Roskill is one of Auckland’s most diverse suburbs.

“It’s quite a significant change from the past. when i’ve reported that messages and emails that are coming through, they’ve said they are just psychological issues. We have been encouraging people to report, because we’ve had the silent majority not speaking for some time so we’re encouraging New Zealand and the community to discuss these things,” he said.
Mr Kashkari says we must remember these are just fringe elements. Police are urging anyone with similar concerns to contact them and say they are taking the matter seriously. READ MORE:
