Current Events Linked To Biblical Prophecies. Everything is unfolding just as the bible foretold. Wars, Volcanic Eruptions, Earthquakes, Extreme Weather, Christian Persecution, Violence and more!
Matthew 24:3-14 3 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?” 4 And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. 6 And you will hear of wars and rumours of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all[a] these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences,[b] and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows. 9 “Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. 10 And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another.
11 Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. 12 And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. 13 But he who endures to the end shall be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.

Rock Harbor Church Prophecy Update – 2/28/19

Published on Mar 1, 2019

Watchman Report: Rock Harbor Church Prophecy Update – 2/28/19 All the signs of the last days are converging at the same time. Bible Prophecy is happening right before our eyes and like birth pains, the predicted events are happening more frequently and more intently. Never, in the history throughout the world have so many forces, including economic, scientific, techno-logic, ecologic, cultural, geopolitical, moral, spiritual and religion, converged together to bring this world that’s already teetering over the edge into the abyss, to a point of no return. Jesus said when you see all these signs happening, know that I am near, even at the door.

(Romans 12:2) to seek God’s will, the Lord says, Do not worry about what you’ll eat or drink or wear. But seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well
(Matt. 6:31-33).

QUESTION   Is it your opinion that as we get closer to the Lord’s return, the more watered down the messages from the pulpit get? I am a charismatic; I believe that the gifts of the Holy Ghost are for today; that being said why do you think that most of the messages in charismatic churches today are based on prosperity? Where has all the prophetic teaching gone?
Don’t get me wrong. I believe and know that God wants to prosper us, but I believe we need to be preaching and teaching the full council of God… and that includes prophecy (end times)! Is part of the reason why we don’t preach or teach out of the book of Revelation because were living in the Laodicean church age and if we do we’ll see the truth slapping us right in the face?
ANSWER:    More and more of the Church is defining success in terms of growth and prosperity. This requires a focus on subjects that don’t frighten or threaten people. It’s also necessary to keep people focused on the things of this world, not on the next one. One of the most visible leaders in the Church today has implied that an interest in Bible Prophecy and the End Times is a distraction and sidetracks Christians.
The Charismatic Church seems especially vulnerable to trends that sweep through the Church, perhaps because of its reliance on the experiential, sometimes at the expense of sound doctrine. Jesus said that God is Spirit and we must worship Him in spirit and in truth. (John 4:24) Not one or the other but both.

QUESTION:    Do you believe that the Bible preaches prosperity, what you say is what you get, claiming your inheritance, etc? I have a friend who goes to a church that teaches if we need anything, we just have to ask God. But he says we have to speak it out loud in order to get it. He claims that by speaking it out loud we can bring it into existence just like God spoke the creation into existence. Do you believe this?
ANSWER:    I believe that the Bible teaches us to have faith that God is able to meet all of our needs. Matt. 6:25-34 tells us if we seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness He will provide everything we need. Paul confirmed this in Phil. 4:19 saying,
“my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.”
And King David said if we delight ourselves in the Lord He will give us the desire of our hearts (Psalm 37:4).
I don’t think that this necessarily means that He’ll immediately grant all our wildest wishes, as if He’s some genie from a bottle. After all He’s the one who brings to light what is hidden in darkness and exposes the motives of our hearts (1 Cor. 4:5). He knows whether we have a legitimate need or are just being selfish or immature.
Different groups promote different formulas that according to them will get God to perform for them, but my relationship with Him is such that I don’t feel the need to use any of them. I know that He looks for opportunities to give good gifts to His children (Matt. 7:11) and I’m comfortable simply placing my needs before Him to do with as He pleases.
Jesus said,
“I have come that they might have life and have it abundantly” (John 10:10).
Once I agreed to let Him show me what He means by living abundantly, I began to experience a life that was much more fulfilling than the one I had built on my own.

The “Disintegration” Of Global Capitalism Could Unleash World War 3, Warns Top EU Economist
Authored by Nafeez Ahmed via,
A senior European Commission economist has warned that a Third World War is an extremely “high probability” in coming years due to the disintegration of global capitalism.
In a working paper published last month, Professor Gerhard Hanappi argued that since the 2008 financial crash, the global economy has moved away from “integrated” capitalism into a “disintegrating” shift marked by the same sorts of trends which preceded previous world wars.
Professor Hanappi is Jean Monnet Chair for Political Economy of European Integration — an European Commission appointment — at the Institute for Mathematical Models in Economics at the Vienna University of Technology. He also sits on the management committee of the Systemic Risks expert groupin the EU-funded European Cooperation in Science and Technology research network.
In his new paper, Hanappi concludes that global conditions bear unnerving parallels with trends before the outbreak of the first and second world wars.
Key red flags that the world is on a slippery slope to a global war, he finds, include:
  • the inexorable growth of military spending;
  • democracies transitioning into increasingly authoritarian police states;
  • heightening geopolitical tensions between great powers;
  • the resurgence of populism across the left and right;
  • the breakdown and weakening of established global institutions that govern transnational capitalism;
  • and the relentless widening of global inequalities.
These trends, some of which were visible before the previous world wars, are reappearing in new forms. Hanappi argues that the defining feature of the current period is a transition from an older form of “integrating capitalism” to a new form of “disintegrating capitalism”, whose features most clearly emerged after the 2008 financial crisis.
This system is now entering a period of disintegration. Previously, fractures within the system between rich and poor were overcome “by distributing a bit of the gains of the tremendous increase of the fruits of the global division of labour to the richer working classes in these nations.” Similarly, international tensions were diffused through transnational governance frameworks and agreements for the regulation of capitalism.
But since the 2008 financial crisis, wealth distribution has worsened, with purchasing power for the middle and working classes declining as wealth becomes even more greatly concentrated.
Great power conflict
Hanappi explores three potential scenarios for how a new global conflict could unfold. In his first scenario, he explores the prospect of a war between the three most prominent military powers: the US, Russia and China.
There are growing signs of heightened great power tensions which could erupt entirely by accident or unanticipated provocation into a global conflict that nobody wants.
The US-China trade war is escalating, while both powers tussle over technology secrets and argue over China’s growing military footprint in the South China Sea. Meanwhile Trump’s massive expansion of the US Navy and Air Force point to preparations for a major potential conflict with either China or Russsia.
Both the US and Russia have jettisoned a critical nuclear treaty established since the Cold War opening the way to a nuclear arms race. North Korea remains unrepentant about its ongoing nuclear weapons programme while Trump’s tearing up of the nuclear agreement with Iran disincentivises that country from complying with disarmament and reporting terms.
Small wars, global contagion
Hanappi’s second scenario explores the prospect of a series of “small civil wars in many countries”. The ingredients for such a scenario are rooted in the resurgence of both right-wing and left-wing populism. “Both variants — sometimes implicitly, sometimes explicitly — refer to a past historical national state form that they propose to return to,” explains Hanappi.
…the potential exists for outbreaks of national civil war between emerging paramilitary branches of right-wing and left-wing populist movements, in the context of either movement adopting state power and coming into conflict with the opposition.
Hanappi warns of the possibility of a regional or global “contagion” effect, if these breakdowns occur within a similar time-scale. In that scenario:
These need to be grasped and activated whether or not war breaks out. Further, we need to work to sound the alarm, relentlessly, at all levels to raise awareness of the true nature of the phase shift we now find ourselves in as a species. Whatever ultimately emerges, the end is not nigh – rather, we stand at the unknown dawn of a new beginning.

The Approaching Winter: The Super-Cycle Has Turned
Authored by Charles Hugh Smith via The Daily Reckoning,
How would you describe the social mood of the nation and world?
Would anti-Establishment, anti-status quo, and anti-globalization be a good start?
How about choking on fast-rising debt?
Would stagnant growth, stagnant wages be a fair description?
Or how about rising wealth/income inequality?
Wouldn’t rising disunity and political polarization be accurate?
These are all characteristics of the long-wave social-economic cycle that is entering the disintegrative (winter) phase. Souring social mood, loss of purchasing power, stagnating wages, rising inequality, devaluing currencies, rising debt, political polarization and elite disunity are all manifestations of this phase.
There is a template for global instability, one that has been repeated throughout history…
Historian Peter Turchin explores the historical cycles of social disintegration and integration in his new book Ages of Discord.
Turchin finds 25-year cycles that combine into roughly 50-year cycles. These 50-year cycles are part of longer 150 to 200-year cycles that move from cooperation through an age of discord and disintegration to a new era of cooperation.
That we have entered an era of rising instability and uncertainty is self-evident. There will always be areas of instability in any era, but instability and uncertainty are now the norm globally.
Turchin’s model identifies three primary forces in these cycles:
  1. An over-supply of labor that suppresses real (inflation-adjusted) wages
  2. An overproduction of essentially parasitic Elites
  3. A deterioration in central state finances (over-indebtedness, decline in tax revenues, increase in state dependents, fiscal burdens of war, etc.)
These combine to influence the broader social mood, which is characterized in eras of discord by fragmented loyalty to self-serving special interests (disintegration) and in eras of cooperation by a desire and willingness to cooperate and compromise for the good of the entire society (integration).
Rising discord can be quantified in a Political Stress Index. Do we find evidence of Turchin’s disintegrative forces in the present era?
  1. Stagnating real wages due to oversupply of labor: check.
  2. Overproduction of parasitic Elites: check.
  3. Deterioration in central state finances: check.
Is it any wonder that political stress, however you want to measure it, is rising?
It is hubris in the extreme to think we have somehow morphed into some new kind of humanity far different from those people who tore down the Bastille in a great frustrated rage at prices for energy and bread they could no longer afford.
Based on the history painstakingly assembled by Fischer and Turchin we can thus anticipate:
  • Ever higher prices for food, energy and water.
  • Ever larger government deficits which end in bankruptcy/repudiation of debts/new issue of currency.
  • Rising property/violent crime and illegitimacy.
  • Rising interest rates (until very recently this was considered “impossible”).
  • Rising income inequality in favor of capital over labor.
  • Continued debasement of the currency.
  • Rising volatility of prices.
  • Rising political unrest and turmoil (see “Revolution”).
And there you have our future, visible in the 13th, 16th and 18th century price-revolution waves which preceded ours.
With this list of manifestations in hand, we can practically write the headlines for 2019-2025 in advance.

M7.0 earthquake strikes Peru. Tremors felt in Bolivia – tsunami alarm in Chile
A 7.0 MAGNITUDE EARTHQUAKE has struck just north of Juliaca, Peru, about 100 miles NW of Arequipa on March 1, 2019. As of now there are no reports of injuries or damage.
The deep powerful earthquake hit at a depth of 260 kilometers and was felt in the regions of Cusco, Apurímac, Tacna, Arequipa and Moquegua in Peru, Bolivia and the northern part of Chile – Tarapaca, Antofagasta, Arica and Parinacota. The epicenter was situated about 8 kilometers from the Peruvian city of Azángaro.
The National Emergency Office of the Ministry of the Interior and Public Security (ONEMI) prompted a “preventive evacuation” due to the threat of a tsunami in the Arica and Parinacota region in Chile. It was canceled shortly after as the earthquake was too deep to generate a tsunami on the coasts of Chile.

An earthquake measuring 7.1 has struck Peru.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) said it hit in the early hours of Friday morning around 40 miles north of the southern city of Juliaca at a depth of 150 miles.
Based on all available data a destructive Pacific-wide tsunami is not expected, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said.
After the earthquake struck in the early hours of Friday morning, authorities in neighbouring Chile, where the earthquake was also felt, initially put people on standby to evacuate, but later rescinded the order.
No casualties have been reported in either country.
Peru was struck less than a week after neighbouring Ecuador, was hit by 7.5-magnitude earthquake near their borders. There were no reported casualties.
Shortly afterwards Ecuador’s president Lenin Moreno the earthquakes “were felt all over the country” but there was no “major damage”.

Germany: Stabbings and Knife Crimes at Record High
  • Police reported more than 4,100 knife-related crimes in 2018, compared to around 3,800 reported during 2017 — and only 400 in 2008. Overall, during the past ten years, knife-related crimes in Germany have increased by more than 900% — from one a day to more than ten a day.
  • German media do not report most knife-related violence. Crimes that are reported are often dismissed as “isolated incidents” that are unrelated to mass immigration. Moreover, many crime reports, including those in police blotters, omit references to the nationalities of the perpetrators and victims — apparently to avoid inflaming anti-immigration sentiments…. Many Germans have the sense that danger lurks everywhere, but the lack of official statistics seemingly allows German authorities to pretend that the problem is imaginary.
  • Germany’s knife-crime epidemic has continued nonstop into 2019. During the first 45 days of 2019, police reported more than 500 knife crimes — an average of 11 a day.
Mourtala Madou, a 33-year-old illegal immigrant from Niger, has been sentenced to life in prison for stabbing to death his 34-year-old German ex-girlfriend and decapitating their 21-month-old daughter at a subway station in Hamburg.
The grisly crime has drawn renewed attention to Germany’s spiraling epidemic of stabbings and knife violence, which has raged since Chancellor Angela Merkel allowed into the country more than a million mostly male migrants from Africa, Asia and the Middle East.
The double murder in Hamburg occurred the morning of April 12, 2018, one day after a family judge denied Madou (also known as Mado Bido M. or Mourtala M.) joint custody of his daughter. Madou followed the mother, Sandra P., and their toddler, Mariam, into the Jungfernstieg station in downtown Hamburg. In front of many passers-by, he opened his backpack, pulled out a knife and stabbed his stroller-bound daughter in the abdomen. He then slashed her neck and severed her head. Madou subsequently plunged the knife into Sandra P.’s back and cut through her vital organs. She died less than an hour later at a nearby hospital.
During interrogation by police, Madou explained: “This is my child. This is my blood. The mother separates me from the child. Then I separate the child from her.”
A review by Gatestone Institute of German police blotters found that 2018 was a record year for stabbings and knife crimes in Germany: Police reported more than 4,100 knife-related crimes in 2018, compared to around 3,800 reported during 2017 — and only 400 in 2008. Overall, during the past ten years, knife-related crimes in Germany have increased by more than 900% — from one a day to more than ten a day. The data shows a notable increase in knife crimes since 2015, when Chancellor Angela Merkel opened German borders to hundreds of thousands of migrants.
German media do not report most knife-related violence. Crimes that are reported are often dismissed as “isolated incidents” that are unrelated to mass immigration. Moreover, many crime reports, including those in police blotters, omit references to the nationalities of the perpetrators and victims — apparently to avoid inflaming anti-immigration sentiments.
Knives, axes and machetes have become weapons of choice for criminals in Germany, which has some of the strictest gun laws in Europe. People armed with knives, axes and machetes have brought devastation to all of Germany’s 16 federal states. Knives have been used not only not only to carry out jihadist attacks, but also to commit homicides, robberies, home invasions, sexual assaults, honor killings and many other types of violent crime.
Knife-related crimes have occurred in amusement parks, bicycle trails, hotels, parking lots, parks, public squares, public transportation, restaurants, schools, supermarkets and train stations. Many Germans have the sense that danger lurks everywhere, but the lack of official statistics seemingly allows German authorities to pretend that the problem is imaginary.

Palestinians: Marching Backwards as Israel Prepares for Elections
  • Instead of marching Palestinians towards democracy, the Palestinian Authority (PA) and Hamas have chosen the model of totalitarianism as a way of governing their people. The pro-Abbas demonstrations organized by Fatah in the West Bank are reminiscent of dictatorships in the Arab world that send their loyalists to the streets to voice support for the ruler. The Hamas-sponsored anti-Abbas demonstrations in the Gaza Strip will not solve any of the crises facing the Palestinians there. These protests are Hamas’s way of distracting attention from its failure to improve the living conditions of the people living under its repressive regime.
  • The only way for the Palestinians to move forward is by protesting against their failed leaders in the PA and Hamas. Many Palestinians, however, are afraid to speak out against their rulers in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Why would any Palestinian speak out against Abbas when the PA arrests and harasses those who even dare to post critical remarks on Facebook? Why would any Palestinian in the Gaza Strip criticize Hamas when he or she knows that this would endanger their lives?
  • On April 9, Israelis will again celebrate democracy by voting in a free and democratic election. The Palestinians, meanwhile, will mark another year of dictatorship and failed leadership, and will continue to dream about heading to any ballot box at all.
Israelis are scheduled to head to the ballot boxes on April 9 to vote for a new parliament (Knesset). This will be the fifth general election in Israel since 2006.
The Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, on the other hand, have, since 2006, failed to hold a single election for their parliament, known as the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC).
Since its inception in 1994, the Palestinian Authority (PA) has held only two legislative elections: the first in 1996 and the second in 2006. The PLC is elected for four years only, but political rivalries among Palestinian factions have blocked any agreement on holding the vote on time.
What is mainly blocking the Palestinians from holding presidential and parliamentary elections is the continued dispute between Abbas’s Fatah faction and Hamas. ّّIt does not appear that the falling-out/disagreement has run its course. Repeated attempts in the past 13 years by several Arab countries, including Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Qatar, to reach “reconciliation agreements” between the Palestinian Authority and Hamas have thus far fallen flat.
In recent weeks, the rivalry between Fatah and Hamas has intensified to a point where they have begun waging street- and online campaigns to discredit each other.
Let the world take note: the two-state solution has been realized in the Middle East. The Palestinians have ended up with two separate mini-states of their own. These mini-states have been at war with each other since 2007. The leaders of the Palestinian Authority and Hamas cannot agree on anything, not even on daylight savings time. If the PA says that daylight savings time ends on a specific day, Hamas rejects the decision and chooses another day, creating two different time zones for the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
For now, it appears that neither the Palestinian Authority nor Hamas is interested in holding presidential and legislative elections. The two parties feel comfortable with the status quo; the PA and Abbas are the unchallenged rulers of parts of the West Bank and they see no reason why they should risk holding an election that could result in a Hamas victory. Hamas, for its part, is comfortable with its exclusive control of the two million Palestinians living in the Gaza Strip and sees no reason why it should allow Palestinians to practice their right to elect new leaders.
Instead of marching Palestinians towards democracy, the PA and Hamas have chosen the model of totalitarianism as a way of governing their people.

Netanyahu, unfazed by indictment, vows to be prime minister for years
Only the voters will decide if I remain in office, not bureaucrats, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said after Attorney-General Avihai Mandelblit announced on Thursday his intention to indict the premier on multiple charges of fraud and breach of trust, and one bribery charge, pending a hearing.
Netanyahu gave a very political speech from the Prime Minister’s Residence in Jerusalem, focusing on the timing of the charges and arguing that they are meant to bring down the Right, repeatedly using the phrase “witch hunt.”
The prime minister opened by talking about his recent meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin and comments US President Trump made overnight Wednesday, calling him tough and smart. He argued that he and the Likud have made Israel stronger than ever before.
“These connections are not to be taken for granted,” Netanyahu said. “The Left knows they cannot compete with these achievements in the voting booth, so they put massive pressure on the attorney general to indict even though there is nothing, in order to influence the elections and put the Left in charge.”
Netanyahu expressed confidence that most voters won’t be influenced by the announcement, but said that even if it influences a few not to vote for him, it will bring the Left to power.
“I’ve never seen the Left so happy…They’re sewing suits” to wear because they expect to become ministers, Netanyahu said.
As for the timing, 40 days before the April 9 election, Netanyahu said “every citizen knows this is outrageous and meant to bring down the Right.
“I am not being given the chance to disprove [the accusations] until after the election – and I will disprove them all,” he added.
“It all began when they accused my wife and me of six cases of bribery. It’s a house of cards that will collapse. Five of those six cases already fell apart, and the rest will too. They’ll be like dust. They won’t be remembered,” he said.
The prime minister also referred to a letter from American jurist and Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz, arguing that the charges dealing with relations between politicians and the medai are a danger to democracy and that there is no precedent in the world of positive media coverage being considered a bribe.
“If positive media coverage is a bribe, why didn’t they even consider investigating Yair Lapid?” he asked.
“There are rules for everyone, and other rules for Netanyahu and the Likud. This whole house of cards will fall,” he said.
Netanyahu said he has “the strength to stand up to this witch hunt” thanks to his family, his knowledge that the accusations are baseless, and support from Israelis.
One bribery charge out of three cases against Netanyahu
In a dramatic televised speech on Thursday night, Feb. 28, Binyamin Netanyahu pledged to serve Israel as prime minister for years to come after the charges against him collapse “like a house of cards.” Attorney general Avihai Mendelblit had just released his rulings on the three police probes against Netanyahu. All three accused him of fraud and breach of trust and one of bribery – favorable press coverage for the prime minister on a website owned by Shaul Alovitch, the largest shareholder in Bezeq telecom, in exchange for regulatory benefits for the company.
Before he gets his day in court to defend himself, or presents his side of the case to the attorney general, the prime minister faces an election on April. 9. This entire legal process could take months. Until then he is a “suspect.” However, the AG chose to publish the charges 40 days before the election, which Netanyahu’s Likud denounced as “flagrant interference” in the democratic process.  Netanyahu accused his enemies of long persecution and a witch hunt to bring him and his right-wing government down after failing to overthrow him at the polling booth.
Following the prime minister’s address to the nation, two of his leading opponents went on camera to demand that he step down forthwith. Former prime minister and Labor leader Ehud Barak accused the attorney general of dealing too leniently with the Netanyahu’s offences, while opposition Blue-White leader Benny Gantz, who is challenging the Likud leader for election, lavished Brutus-like praise but advised him to step down before he is beaten.
The AG’s 55-page document appears to criminalize the prime minister for choosing officials willing and able to carry forth his policies or any other kinds of machinations which are par for the course for politicians. In the case of Netanyahu, favors were dispensed but no money changed hands, in return for favorable press coverage. Will  this conduct stand up in court as criminal bribery? It would be hard to find any politician who has not solicited a publisher, an op-ed writer or reporter for favorable coverage with offers of benefits.
Trump called him a great prime minister and said he does a great job. Netanyahu returned from Moscow early Thursday after an amicable meeting with President Vladimir Putin in Moscow.

– Hal Lindsey –
The Bible predicts that in the future Israel will be subject to the rage of the nations as never before. In fact, it predicts that one day
“all the nations of the earth will be gathered against it.” (Zechariah 12:3 NASB)
In that same passage of scripture, the prophet warns that there will be a “siege… against Jerusalem….” (Zechariah 12:2b NASB) The world has not yet laid siege against Jerusalem, but the anger that will culminate then is already building now.
Throughout modern history, there has been much antisemitism. However, from AD 70 to 1948, there were Jews, but no Israel. As in other prophetic scenarios, the reestablishment of Israel makes antisemitism a meaningful sign of the end of the Age of Grace.
After the Nazis murdered six million Jews, most of the non-Muslim world retreated from antisemitism. Or institutionally suppressed it. That lasted several decades.
King Solomon once wrote: “…there is nothing new under the sun.” (Ecclesiastes 1:9c NASB) Today, the echoes of Nazi hate are again being heard in the western world.
Recently, eight prominent members of Britain’s Labour Party resigned from their party. They did so in protest of the new rise of antisemitism within the party.
Luciana Berger is one of the Members of Parliament (MP) who resigned. She wrote: “I cannot remain in a party that I have come to the sickening conclusion is institutionally anti-Semitic.”
Other Labour members called her a “disruptive Zionist” who supported a “murdering government.” A well-known Labour leader, Margaret Tyson, called the Israelis, “…murdering Zionest (sic) bastards. Their NAZI masters have taught them well.”
Joan Ryan is another MP who resigned in protest. She said, “The Labour Party under Jeremy Corbyn has become infected with the scourge of anti-Jewish racism.”
Corbyn is the Labour Party leader. He is a fierce critic of all things Israel. He has a long history with antisemitic groups.
The Guardian newspaper reported: “Some of Labour’s most influential figures are urgently warning Jeremy Corbyn to change his approach to antisemitism… as more senior politicians reveal they have already decided to quit the party.”
But Corbyn says he plans to change nothing. Since his rise to power in 2015, long hidden antisemitism within the Labour Party has been coming out of the woodwork. One member of Corbyn’s “shadow cabinet” has suggested that the world relocate Israel to the United States. Another, the former Mayor of London Ken Livingstone, defended that proposal by declaring that Hitler had been a Zionist!
Some of these MPs are obviously nut jobs, but that doesn’t make them any less dangerous. In fact, with the deep political troubles facing the Conservative Party because of Prime Minister Theresa May’s lousy handling of Brexit, Jeremy Corbyn may be within reach of becoming Britain’s next prime minister!
And that scares many British Jews. Last year, three major Jewish newspapers published a joint article. They warned of “the existential threat to Jewish life in this country that would be posed by a Jeremy Corbyn-led government.”
But that existential threat is not limited to the United Kingdom. Last week, The Atlantic published an article headlined, “Europe’s Ubiquitous Anti-Semitism.” Even the long-running “yellow vest” protests in France have been usurped by radicals who are trying to infuse them with hatred for French Jews.
Last year, the number of antisemitic acts in France surged by 74%. And on February 19, vandals defaced 80 graves in a Jewish cemetery with painted swastikas.
Since 2006, almost 50,000 Jews have fled France because of growing antisemitism.
A few days ago, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, “Anti-Zionism is the new form of anti-Semitism.”
Irwin Cotler, the former Attorney General of Canada, believes that Israel itself has become “the collective Jew among the nations.”
In other words, Israel as a nation is being treated the way individual Jews have traditionally been mistreated. Like the Jews of history, Israel is held to a different standard of conduct. And it is the continuing target of unreasonable hatred and violence.
Just as the Bible predicted.
It seems impossible that Christians could hold contempt for the people from whom our Lord arose. But millions do.
Throughout history, many church leaders believed that Jews as a race were guilty of “Deicide.” That is the killing of God the Son.
Some prominent figures in the church held horrible views of the Jew. Those views ignored the Jewish identity of Jesus. Some asserted that Jews could not even be saved. They seemed to forget that Peter, John, Paul, and other first century Apostles were Jews! In fact, the early church was Jewish!
But the Bible makes it clear that the Jews did not kill Jesus. Love did. It was His love for us that caused Jesus to willingly lay down His life as the atoning sacrifice for all mankind.
Should we hate Jews for their national role in all of this? NO! Not for a minute! Should we throw them away? NO! In Romans 1:16, the Apostle Paul wrote,
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.” (NASB)
That was Paul’s pattern. Even though he was an apostle to the Gentiles, when he entered a city with the gospel, he first went to the Jews. That shows ongoing love and honor.
Has God thrown Israel away? The context of Romans 11:1 leaves no doubt that he is talking about the Jews. It asks the question, then emphatically answers it: “Has God cast away His people? Certainly not!” (NKJV)
On this week’s program, I will discuss the origins of Christian antisemitism. I’ll explain how it has assisted the rise of “Replacement Theology” in today’s church world. I will also discuss the roles of various views such as Amillennialism, Premillennialism, and Postmillennialism, and explain how the different covenants of God with Israel impact the prophetic scenario.
