Matthew 24:3-14 3 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?” 4 And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. 6 And you will hear of wars and rumours of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all[a] these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences,[b] and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows. 9 “Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. 10 And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another.
11 Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. 12 And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. 13 But he who endures to the end shall be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.

DAILY CHRISTIAN BIBLICAL QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS:

THE GOSPEL IN THE STARS

https://gracethrufaith.com/ask-a-bible-teacher/the-gospel-inthe-stars/
QUESTION:    In your latest post I noted this statement: “But the people disobeyed God’s commandment to go forth and replenish the Earth, setting about instead to build a great city and a tower to protect themselves from another flood. They also used the tower to study astrology, a corruption of the Gospel that God had written in the stars using the names of 12 constellations.” I’ve never heard of a Gospel in the stars. What does that mean?
ANSWER:    Psalm 19:1-4 says,
The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge.  There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard. Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.
The Hebrew Mazzaroth is the original version of the so-called signs of the zodiac that were perverted into astrology.  According to tradition, it was based on 12 constellations named by Adam, Seth, and Enoch long before the flood to teach early man the story of the Coming Redeemer.  The Sphinx in Egypt is a monument to the Mazzaroth.  You can get a book titled “The Gospel In The Stars” by J. A. Seiss if you want to do a more complete study.

SIGNS IN THE SUN, MOON, AND STARS

https://gracethrufaith.com/ask-a-bible-teacher/signs-in-the-sun-moon-and-stars/
QUESTION:    Matt. 24:29 and Mark 13:24-25 say that the signs of the sun, moon and stars occur after the tribulation. But Joel 2:31 says the signs in the sun, moon, and stars happen before the Day of the Lord. My question is do the signs in sun, moon, and stars occur after the tribulation and before the start of the 1000 year reign of Christ as Matt. 24 says, or before the Day of the Lord as Joel 2 says?
ANSWER:    The passage from Joel 2:31 refers to Rev. 6:12-14. This is the 6th Seal judgment which takes place before the Great Tribulation begins. Then there are the signs you mentioned that occur in conjunction with its end. The Sun and Moon also give signs through out the last seven years, such as in Rev. 8:12 and Rev. 16:8. So it’s not one or the other but both.

DUST, SAND, AND STARS

https://gracethrufaith.com/ask-a-bible-teacher/dust-sand-stars/
QUESTION:    I just read a commentary on the three types of people who represent the seed of Abraham. The author likened them to the Jews, the Arabs, and the Church. I’ve only recognized these Scriptures to be speaking to two groups; the “earthly promises” to Israel and the “heavenly/spiritual promises” to the Church. Would you please clarify.
ANSWER:    Like you, I have an opinion that differs somewhat from the commentary you’re quoting.
In Genesis 13:16 God said He would make Abraham’s descendants like the dust of the earth. This promise was made in conjunction with showing Abraham the Promised Land and refers to the Jews.
In Genesis 16:10 the Angel of the Lord promised Hagar that her descendants (through Ishmael) would be too numerous to count, but made no reference to sand, dust, or stars.
In Genesis 22:17 God told Abraham his descendants would be as numerous as the stars in the sky and the sand on the seashore. This was said just after the interrupted sacrifice of Isaac, which was a model of the sacrifice of Jesus, and was meant to show how all nations would be blessed because of Abraham.
I believe the stars in the sky was a reference to the redeemed Church (in Christ we are Abraham’s seed according to Galatians 3:29 and come from every nation) dwelling in the New Jerusalem above Earth, and the sand on the seashore points to Israel in the Millennium, when they will finally recognise the Messiah and dwell in the Land on Earth.

(Fox News) – Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has blamed Iran for the “blatant assault” on oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman earlier Thursday. In a news conference Thursday afternoon, Pompeo said: “This assessment is based on intelligence, the weapons used, the level of expertise needed to execute the operation, recent similar Iranian attacks on shipping, and the fact that no proxy group operating in the area has the resources and proficiency to act with such a high degree of sophistication.” He charged that Iran was
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has blamed Iran for the “blatant assault” on oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman earlier Thursday.
In a news conference Thursday afternoon, Pompeo said: “This assessment is based on intelligence, the weapons used, the level of expertise needed to execute the operation, recent similar Iranian attacks on shipping, and the fact that no proxy group operating in the area has the resources and proficiency to act with such a high degree of sophistication.”
He charged that Iran was working to disrupt the flow of oil through the Strait of Hormuz and this is a deliberate part of a campaign to escalate tension, adding that the U.S. would defend its forces and interests in the region, although he did not elaborate.
His comments came shortly after a senior U.S. defense official told Fox News the U.S. Navy saw an unexploded mine attached to the hull of the Panama-listed, Japanese-owned Kokuka Courageous ship, one of the two ships attacked. It’s the same type of mine used to damage four oil tankers last month in the same area – an attack senior Pentagon officials blamed on Iran.
In a series of tweets, acting Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan praised Navy efforts to rescue those on the Panamanian vessel and called Iran’s “unprovoked attacks” a threat to international security and peace.
“Iran’s continued unprovoked attacks in the region are a threat to international security and peace and an assault against freedom of navigation on the open seas,” Shanahan posted.
Shanahan also reiterated that the U.S. was not looking for armed conflict but “will defend our forces and our interests around the world.”
In a news release, Iran’s U.N. Mission said the nation rejected claims that it was responsible for the incidents.
“Iran stands ready to play an active and constructive role in ensuring the security of strategic maritime passages as well as promoting peace, stability and security in the region,” the statement said.
Iran also condemned comments made by acting U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Jonathan Cohen at Thursday’s closed-door U.N. Security Council meeting, calling his remarks part of an “Iranophobic campaign.”
The secretive regime also countered arguments made by American officials that its behavior continued to be a source of instability in the Persian Gulf. It said the “U.S. and its regional allies must stop warmongering and put an end to the mischievous plots as well as false flag operations.”
A spokesman for Taiwan’s CPC Corp oil refiner, which chartered the other boat attacked on Thursday morning, the Front Altair, said it was “suspected of being hit by a torpedo”, although it had not been confirmed.
2 OIL TANKERS DAMAGED IN SUSPECTED ATTACK IN THE GULF OF OMAN, CREW EVACUATED
Whether it be a torpedo or mines, Jakob P. Larsen, head of maritime security for the international shipping association BIMCO, told the Associated Press that the incident brings the region closer to an armed conflict.
“The shipping industry views this as an escalation of the situation, and we are just about as close to a conflict without there being an actual armed conflict, so the tensions are very high,” he said.

Iran’s foreign minister Javad Zarif said of the latest incident: “Suspicious doesn’t begin to describe what likely transpired this morning.”
But U.S. officials have repeatedly warned that the Iranian regime is posing a credible threat in the Middle East, prompting the Trump administration to beef up security in the region in the form of additional bombers and troops.
Gen. Frank McKenzie, the head of American forces in the Middle East, warned during a recent trip to the region of an unspecified “imminent” threat from Iran.
GEN. KEANE: SUSPECTED ATTACK ON OIL TANKERS INTENDED TO ‘PUT PRESSURE’ ON US TO ‘EASE OFF’ IRAN SANCTIONS
Back in May, the U.S. military was put on alert after reports that Iranian forces loaded missiles into launchers on two Iranian commercial boats sailing around the Persian Gulf, according to the Wall Street Journal. For two weeks, the U.S. shadowed the ships as tensions continued to rise, according to the report. The ships eventually came back to a harbor and unloaded the rockets, Iranian officials said
“The best way to describe them is a covert, deniable first-strike weapon. The conversion of a merchant ship for an attack in and of itself is a very provocative act.”
U.S. OFFICIAL FAMILIAR WITH THE INTELLIGENCE
“The best way to describe them is a covert, deniable first-strike weapon,” a U.S. official familiar with the intelligence told the newspaper. “The conversion of a merchant ship for an attack in and of itself is a very provocative act.”
Zarif fired back against criticism at the time, saying that the regime had the right to self-defense. “We have a right to defend ourselves, so if we put missiles on our boats, it is our right,” he told ABC News on Sunday.
JAPANESE PRIME MINISTER AND TRUMP ALLY SHINZO ABE VISITS TEHRAN TO HELP EASE US-IRAN TENSIONS
The MT Front Altair, a Marshall Islands-flagged but Norwegian-owned crude oil tanker was carrying naphtha, a flammable petrochemical product, to Japan. The Front Altair came from Ruwais in the UAE, a loading point for the state-run Abu Dhabi National Oil Co.
International Tanker Management, which operates the MT Front Altair, said an explosion had caused a fire onboard. The firm told the Associated Press the incident is still being investigated and it was unclear what caused the explosion. Its 23 crew members were evacuated by the nearby South Korean-based Hyundai Dubai Vessel and are now safe, the firm said.
The other tanker, the Kokuka Courageous, said it sustained hull damage and 21 sailors had been evacuated, with one suffering minor injuries.
The vessel came from Mesaieed, Qatar, and Jubail, Saudi Arabia, carrying methanol, a chemical compound used in a variety of products.
The tensions between the U.S. and Iran have reached a fever pitch and the diplomatic efforts to defuse the situation tend to hit a wall. Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is visiting Iran this week and is expected to try to de-escalate tensions between Tehran and Washington, though any significant breakthrough is unlikely.
Yet Abe’s visit coincided with the Iran-backed Houthi rebel attack on Saudi Arabia’s Abha regional airport that reportedly wounded 26 people.

The U.S. was put on alert amid intelligence reports that indicated that Iran-backed militias in Iraq are moving the missiles close to American bases. This prompted the U.S. to order all non-essential personnel to leave the U.S. Embassy and consulate in Iraq.
President Trump, meanwhile, sent an aircraft carrier and B-52 bombers to the region, along with hundreds more troops to back up the tens of thousands already deployed in the region.

In the midst of this, Iran is also threatening to withdraw from the 2015 nuclear accord and resume enriching uranium closer to weapons-grade level on July 7 if European allies fail to offer new terms for the nuclear deal.
Ilan Goldenberg, Middle East Security Director at CNAS (Center for a New American Security), a defense and national security think tank, tweeted Thursday: “I’ve been saying for the past month that threat of war with Iran is overhyped. Not after today. We should be concerned.”
Fox News’ Jennifer Griffin, Lucas Tomlinson, Bradford Betz, Louis Casiano and The Associated Press contributed to this report.

JAPANESE TANKER OWNER DENIES SHIP HIT BY MINE

https://prophecyupdate.blogspot.com/
Japanese Tanker Owner Denies Ship Hit By Mine, Says Crew Saw “Flying Objects” Before Attack
For a moment on Thursday, it appeared that the US Navy had produced the ‘smoking gun’ to which Secretary of State Mike Pompeo had alluded during his statement from earlier in the day: CENTCOM footage which the Navy said purported to show Iran’s IRGC ‘caught in the act’ of trying to remove an unexploded  mine from the Kokuka Courageous, one of the two tankers damaged in Thursday’s attacks.
CENTCOM said the video it released showed the IRGC removing an unexploded limpet mine from the side of one of the tankers, suggesting Tehran had sought to remove evidence from the scene.
Just in: Pentagon video of what it says is an Iranian boat removing an unexploded mine from one of the attacked oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman. pic.twitter.com/XSxIPcyV6Q
  • Philip Crowther (@PhilipinDC) June 14, 2019After the video’s release, Iran continued to deny any involvement in the attacks. AND PERHAPS NOW WE KNOW WHY.
Because in comments that cast the entire narrative promulgated by the US in doubt, Yutaka Katada, the president of Kokuka Sangyo, the owner and operator of the Kokuka Courageous, said Friday that he doesn’t completely believe Washington’s version of events.
Instead, he said he believes the vessel wasn’t damaged by a mine, but by some kind of projectile, like, say, a torpedo. He called reports of a mine attack “false.” One reason is because a mine doesn’t damage a ship above sea level, like what was seen with the Courageous.
“A mine doesn’t damage a ship above sea level,” said Yutaka Katada, president of Kokuka Sangyo, the owner and operator of the vessel. “We aren’t sure exactly what hit, but it was something flying towards the ship,” he said.
Another is because of a suspicious sighting by some of the crew, according to Bloomberg.
According to the CEO, sailors on board the Courageous saw “flying objects” just before the ship was hit, suggesting the vessel wasn’t damaged by mines, but by objects that could have been bullets.
Katada’s comments partly contradict Washington’s allegations of a mine attack, though the CEO did mention that his crew had spotted an Iranian Navy ship nearby around the time of the attack, though he didn’t say whether it was before or after.
The Courageous was carrying 225,000 tons of methanol from Saudi Arabia to Asia and was flying a Panama flag at the time of the attack. Analysts immediately noted the poor timing for Tehran: The attack occurred just as senior Iranian leaders were meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
The Courageous suffered two explosions, forcing the crew to evacuate. Fortunately for the company, the ship is unlikely to sink or even lose fuel or goods stored onboard – but it will need to be repaired, Katada said. The US said the ship’s 21-member crew was rescued by a Dutch tug boat and was later taken aboard the USS Bainbridge.
Per CBS News, the US may have wanted to show Iran deploying mines because Iran previously used mines against oil tankers in 1987 and 1988 in the “Tanker War,” when the US Navy escorted ships through the region.
In other news, the US Military said the Navy Destroyer USS Mason is en route to the area in the Sea of Oman where the two tankers were attacked. The military added that it has no interest in engaging in new conflict in the Middle East and that it is ready to defend US interests as well as freedom of navigation.
Iran categorically rejected the US unfounded claim regarding tanker attacks, according to Iran’s foreign minister and its mission to the UN.
Markets appeared to shrug off the news, but the uncertainty will likely create problems for the US as it tries to justify more strict sanctions, or a beefed up military presence to “escort” tankers. However, this didn’t stop President Trump on Friday from once again placing the blame squarely on Iran.
We imagine the US will continue pushing this line, unless more substantial evidence supporting Katada’s claims emerges.

U.S.: VIDEO SHOWS IRANIANS REMOVING UNEXPLODED MINE FROM TANKER

https://prophecyupdate.blogspot.com/
US says video shows Iranians removing unexploded mine from stricken tanker
The US released video Thursday that it said showed Iranians removing an explosive device from the hull of a Japanese oil tanker that was one of two ships attacked earlier in the day, as tensions skyrocketed over the incident.
In the video, reportedly taken from the USS Bainbridge, a smaller boat can be seen pulling up to the side of the Kokuka Courageous and a crew member seemingly take an object off the hull.
The Pentagon said that the object was an unexploded mine, showing the video as proof that Iran was behind the attack on the vessel and an explosion that set the Norwegian owned Front Altair ablaze in the Gulf of Oman, near the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
A picture released by the US Central Command showed a triangular shape on the side of the Kokuka Courageous that the US said was a likely mine. The picture also showed a hole in the side of the ship, apparently from a second mine that did explode.
According to a US official, initial evidence suggested the attack against the Kokuka Courageous was conducted by Iran with a mine similar to what was used against oil tankers off the UAE last month. The official, who declined to provide additional details or evidence, spoke on condition of anonymity in order to discuss initial findings that have not been made public.
Earlier, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the US assessment of Iran’s involvement was based in part on intelligence, as well as the expertise needed for the operation.
It was also based on recent incidents in the region that the U.S. also blamed on Iran, including the use of limpet mines — designed to be attached magnetically to a ship’s hull — to attack four oil tankers off the nearby Emirati port of Fujairah and the bombing of an oil pipeline in Saudi Arabia by Iranian-backed fighters in May, he said.
“Taken as a whole, these unprovoked attacks present a clear threat to international peace and security, a blatant assault on the freedom of navigation and an unacceptable campaign of escalating tension by Iran,” Pompeo said. He provided no evidence, gave no specifics about any plans and took no questions.
At the United Nations, the United States asked for closed Security Council consultations on the tanker incidents later Thursday.
Iran’s UN Mission said the government “categorically rejects” the U.S. claim that it was responsible for the attacks and condemned it “in the strongest possible terms.”
Iran denied being involved in the attacks last month and its foreign minister questioned the timing of Thursday’s incidents, given that Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was meeting Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in Tehran.
Pompeo noted that Abe had asked Iran to enter into talks with Washington but Tehran “rejected” the overture.
“The supreme leader’s government then insulted Japan by attacking a Japanese-owned oil tanker just outside Iranian waters, threatening the lives of the entire crew, creating a maritime emergency,” Pompeo added.

SAUDIA ARABIA, US, UK AGREE THAT IRAN BEHIND OIL TANKER ATTACKS

https://prophecyupdate.blogspot.com/
SAUDIS, UK AGREE THAT IRAN BEHIND ATTACKS, IRAN DENIES INVOLVEMENT
Saudi Arabia and Britain agreed with the United States assessment that Iran was behind the suspected attacks on two oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman.
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said on Thursday the attack on two oil tankers on June 13 was one in a list of Iranian and Iranian-backed attacks over the last month. It was a “clear threat to peace, security and freedom of navigation,” he said, asserting that Iran was disrupting world oil markets and that the international community condemns the assault.
“We have no reason to disagree with the secretary of state. We agree with him,” Saudi Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Adel al-Jubeir told CNN on Thursday. “Iran has a history of doing this.”
Britain also shares the US government’s assessment that Iran is to blame for two attacks on oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman on Thursday, a source at Britain’s foreign ministry said, when asked about the US assessment, declining to give further details.
The United Kingdom also warned Iran that these actions were “deeply unwise,” Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt said.
“This is deeply worrying and comes at a time of already huge tension. I have been in contact with (US Secretary of State Mike) Pompeo and, while we will be making our own assessment soberly and carefully, our starting point is obviously to believe our US allies,” Hunt said in a statement.
“We are taking this extremely seriously and my message to Iran is that if they have been involved it is a deeply unwise escalation which poses a real danger to the prospects of peace and stability in the region,” he added.
The attacks on oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman and on a Saudi airport are a ‘major and dangerous escalation’ that requires the international community to scramble to protect regional stability and security, the United Arab Emirates’ Minister of State for Foreign Affairs said on Thursday.
“Wisdom and collective responsibility are needed to prevent more escalation,” Anwar Gargash said in a Twitter post.
Meanwhile, Iran rejected the US claim that they were involved in Thursday’s tanker attacks at the United Nations on Thursday.
“Iran categorically rejects the US unfounded claim with regard to 13 June oil tanker incidents and condemns it in the strongest possible terms,”  Iran’s mission to the United Nations said after Washington blamed Tehran for the attacks.
POMPEO: IRAN BEHIND TANKER STRIKE, PART OF CAMPAIGN TO ‘ESCALATE TENSION
Iran was likely behind a coordinated attack on two tankers in the Gulf of Oman early Thursday morning, the United States said, as “limpet mines” were spotted on one of the wrecked ships.
The attack comes a month after four tankers were sabotaged off the United Arab Emirates in May and will raise US-Iran tensions to their worst point in years.
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the attack on two oil tankers on June 13 was one in a list of Iranian and Iranian-backed attacks over the last month. It was a “clear threat to peace, security and freedom of navigation,” he said, asserting that Iran was disrupting world oil markets and that the international community condemns the assault.
The US has instructed its UN ambassador to raise the attack at the UN. “The US will defend its force, interests, partners and allies. We call upon all nations threatened to join us in that endeavor.”
“It is the assessment of the U.S. government that Iran is responsible for today’s attacks in the Gulf of Oman….”@StateDept @SecPompeo pic.twitter.com/sTIB0p1kCE
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) June 13, 2019
The attacks began after 6 a.m. in the morning when the US Fifth Fleet heard a distress call from a tanker in the Gulf of Oman that had exited the Strait of Hormuz. Forty-five minutes later another distress call was made. Two tankers, the Kokuka Courageous, which had left the Saudi Arabian port of Al Jubail on June 10, and the Front Altair, which had left UAE port of Ruwais with 75,000 tonnes of Naphta on board, were in damaged by explosions. The Kokuka Courageous had been attacked twice, according to numerous reports, while the Front Altair was on fire and its starboard side blackened from the bridge to half-way down its lengthwise bulkhead.
In Oman and Pakistan locals received reports of the explosions and passed them on to Iran’s Al-Alam TV which soon broadcast the first reports. Iranian-linked media pushed the story and were soon running images of one of the tankers on fire and even posted dated video of a different attack by Iranian-backed Houthis on a Saudi ship from 2017.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Javad Zarif was nonplussed, calling the incident “suspicious” as it took place during a historic state visit of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. It also comes amid tensions with the US and US threats to retaliate for any Iranian attacks. The US said Iran was “almost certainly” responsible for attacks last month on four tankers. But this incident on June 13 was far more serious, forcing the evacuation of the ships.
Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov warned against “hasty attempts to pin the blame” after the attack. France also said it was disturbed by the incident, linking it with a cruise missile attack on a Saudi airport earlier this week. That attack was carried out by the Houthis against an airport on June 12.

UN Mideast envoy meets Hamas leaders in Gaza amid border violence
Tensions were high along the Gaza Strip border Friday afternoon, ahead of expected weekly protests and following a night of cross-border violence and amid mounting concerns of another flareup.
UN Middle East envoy Nickolay Mladenov met with Hamas leadership in Gaza on Friday in a bid to prevent an escalation of violence.
Border protests were not held last week due to the holiday of Eid al-Fitr, but were expected to resume Friday, though the level of violence during these demonstrations would largely be a decision of the Gaza-ruling Hamas.
Since the last eruption of violence in early May Hamas has largely acted to contain violence at the rallies, but it was not clear whether the terror group intended to continue this policy.
Israeli Air Force jets carried out multiple airstrikes in the Strip early Friday, hours after a rocket hit a religious school in southern Israel. The Israeli military said in a statement that fighter jets and other aircraft attacked “several terror targets, including terror infrastructure in military compounds.”
The strikes came hours after a rocket launched from Gaza slammed into a building housing a religious school, causing damage but no injuries. The rocket, which did not explode, struck the outer face of the yeshiva, sending debris onto the sidewalk. A number of tempered-glass windows were also broken. Most students had gone home for the weekend, but several people were still inside the school at the time.
In light of the increased tensions, the Israel Defense Forces on Friday increased the readiness of its Iron Dome missile defense batteries in southern Israel.
The rocket attacks led to growing calls among politicians for a major military operation, including assassinating leaders of Hamas.
No Palestinian group has taken responsibility for the attacks, but the military generally holds Hamas responsible for any violence emanating from the enclave.
Tensions with Gaza have been steadily rising in recent days, with Israel blocking Gazan fishermen from access to the sea in response to multiple incendiary balloons being launched over the border.
Rocket strikes Sderot yeshiva in second attack from Gaza in a day
Projectile, which did not explode, causes damage, but no injuries; several people were in the building, but most had gone home for Shabbat
A rocket fired from the Gaza Strip struck a Jewish religious school in the southern town of Sderot on Thursday night, causing damage but no injuries, officials said.
It was the second rocket attack aimed at southern Israel from Gaza in less than 24 hours, marking a significant rise in the level of violence from the coastal enclave.
The projectile triggered sirens in the town of Sderot and nearby community of Ivim shortly after 9 p.m.
The rocket struck the outer face of the yeshiva, sending debris onto the sidewalk. A number of tempered-glass windows were also broken.
The rocket did not explode, however. Had it detonated, the devastation would have been far greater.
Most students had gone home for the weekend, but several people were still inside the school at the time of the attack.
Police shut down the area around the school, and sappers were called in to remove the rocket.
In the predawn hours of Thursday, a rocket was fired from Gaza toward the Eshkol region of southern Israel. It was intercepted by the Iron Dome missile defense system, the army said, and did not cause injuries or damage.
In response, Israeli aircraft bombed a Hamas underground facility in the southern Gaza Strip.
The attack came hours after Israel announced it was imposing a full naval closure of the Gaza Strip, not allowing local fisherman access to the sea, in response to a wave of arson and explosive attacks from the coastal enclave throughout the day.
At least six fires in southern Israel were blamed on incendiary balloons launched from the Strip on Wednesday, and another balloon with a bomb attached to it exploded over an Israeli town. There were no reports of injuries. The arson attacks caused significant damage to area farmland.
There was a marked decrease in the number of balloon attacks on Thursday.
The arson attacks appeared to be a violation of an unofficial ceasefire reached in early May between Israel and Gaza’s Hamas rulers that ended two days of intense fighting between the Israeli military and Palestinian terror groups.

U.S. SENDS DESTROYER TO GULF OF OMAN, IRAN: ‘SUSPICIOUS DOESN’T BEGIN TO DESCRIBE WHAT HAPPENED

https://prophecyupdate.blogspot.com/
US SENDS DESTROYER TO GULF OF OMAN TANKER INCIDENT SITE AS PENTAGON SAYS ‘NO INTEREST’ IN NEW WAR
The US has dispatched another warship to the Gulf of Oman, but says it has “no interest” in engaging in a new Middle East conflict. The State Department accused Iran of attacking two tankers there, which Tehran denies.
Guided missile destroyer USS Mason will join the destroyer USS Bainbridge on station near the Kokuka Courageous, a damaged tanker just outside the Persain Gulf, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said on Thursday, adding that “Iranian small boats” were spotted in the area.
The Florida-based combat command called the attacks on tankers “a clear threat to international freedom of navigation and freedom of commerce.”
“We have no interest in engaging in a new conflict in the Middle East,” CENTCOM added. “We will defend our interests, but a war with Iran is not in our strategic interest, nor in the best interest of the international community.”
The statement comes several hours after US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo accused Iran of carrying out attacks against Kokuka Courageous and Front Altair in the Gulf of Oman, claiming that Tehran was “lashing out” at Washington’s “successful maximum pressure campaign” of sanctions.
Pompeo offered no evidence for his accusations, only the US “assessment” that Iran was behind the attacks on the tankers because no one else in the region had the required “sophistication,” an extremely dubious claim. He tried to present the latest incident in the “context of four years of unprovoked aggression against freedom-loving nations,” offering a laundry list of events in Yemen, Iraq and even Afghanistan that supposedly implicated Iran, but again without any proof Tehran was behind any of them.
Iran has rejected the accusations coming from Washington, pointing out that the two Japanese-related tankers were attacked as Japanese PM Shinzo Abe was visiting Tehran on a mission of peace. “Suspicious doesn’t begin to describe what likely transpired this morning,” Iranian FM Javad Zarif tweeted.
‘Suspicious doesn’t begin to describe what happened’: Iran’s FM on tanker ‘attacks’ in Gulf of Oman
Iran’s foreign minister has labeled the reported attack on two “Japan-related” oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman as “suspicious,” occurring just as Japanese Prime Minister Abe came to Tehran for major talks.
Expressing his misgivings on Twitter, Javad Zarif noted that the incidents on the two vessels on Thursday, one of which had been reportedly struck by a torpedo, had occurred as Abe sat down for “extensive and friendly” discussions with Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.

Later in the day, Japanese shipping company Kokuka Sangyo confirmed that one of its vessels had been hit in today’s attack while transporting 25,000 tons of methanol.
The statement came after Iran said it rescued 44 sailors from two tankers named as Front Altair and Kokuka Courageous. One of them was reportedly hit with a torpedo, but there is no official statement on the claim.

WITNESSES DESCRIBE ‘MIRACLE’ AS GAZA MISSILE BARELY MISSES SDEROT STUDENTS

https://prophecyupdate.blogspot.com/
Witnesses describe ‘miracle’ as Gaza missile barely misses Sderot students
Most students had already left for the weekend, but several people at a religious school in Sderot had stuck around Thursday night. Three of them were just sitting down to study Biblical psalms when a rocket alarm rang out just before 9 p.m.
Seconds later, a missile slammed into a wall just steps away, sending concrete and glass flying but leaving them unharmed.
Eyewitnesses said that had the rocket hit a few minutes earlier, when the main study hall was filled with students, or a few meters from where it did, it could have been a very different story.
“It happened two-three meters from me,” said Shalom Kahlon, a former student who was in the study hall at the time of the explosion, speaking to the Ynet news website.
“It hit the wall, three meters from there, that’s where I was sitting. If the rocket had been half a meter to the side I don’t know if I would be speaking now,” he added.
Kahlon and others described hearing a massive boom as the rocket hit the multi-story building housing the school Thursday evening, though there was no explosion from a warhead, which could have caused much greater devastation.
The strike still managed to break several tempered windows and leave a large hole in an outside wall where it made a direct impact, with concrete rubble strewn across a sidewalk below. Nonetheless, authorities said there were no injuries.
“It was a miracle,” the head rabbi of the yeshiva, Shlomo Binyamin, told Channel 12 news. “Just 10 minutes earlier there had been 15 students saying evening prayers in the room.”
Some 150 students attend the Lev Ladaat hesder yeshiva, according to its website. Had the rocket struck on another day of the week, more students could have been present — but many of them had seemingly already left for the weekend.
A Chabad Lubavitch synagogue adjacent to the school was also occupied by several people, according to Rabbi Moshe Zeev Pizem, who was leading a weekly Bible study session at the time.
“We were busy with a Torah class and in the middle of the lecture there was a siren, and seconds later a huge strong blast, which made everyone jump,” he told Channel 13 news. “A moment later we all realized we were alive.”
Due to its proximity to Gaza, Sderot residents have just 15 seconds or less to seek shelter when a rocket alarm sounds. Many newer buildings in the city, which has been pummeled by thousands of rockets since the early 2000s, are constructed of reinforced concrete. The yeshiva building was constructed in 2012.
The rocket was the second to be shot from Gaza Thursday, but unlike the first, was not intercepted by the Iron Dome anti-missile system, for reasons that were not immediately clear early Friday.
Politicians and others called for a major military operation on Thursday night, including assassinating leaders of Hamas, to stem the rising violence.
“The situation as it is cannot continue,” Sderot Mayor Alon Davidi said. “As I said in the past, only a military operation will bring peace to our region.”

HEZBOLLAH’S PLANS FOR TERRORISM ON ISRAEL TARGETS

https://prophecyupdate.blogspot.com/
REPORT: HEZBOLLAH PLANNED HUGE, GAME-CHANGING ATTACKS ON ISRAEL TARGETS GLOBALLY
Israeli intel official says vast ammonium nitrate cache found in 2015 in London, as reported this week, was part of terror group’s planned ‘revenge’ against Israel in case of war
For three and a half years, Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency played a cat-and-mouse game with the Hezbollah terror group to stymie its efforts to establish explosives storehouses from Thailand to New York, an Israeli intelligence official confirmed this week.
The largest cache, containing some three tons of ammonium nitrate, a key ingredient for some types of explosives, was found at four locations in north London, sites raided by the Metropolitan Police in September 2015. Other caches planted by Hezbollah cells were discovered in Cyprus, Thailand and as-yet unnamed European countries, according to reports.
The Hezbollah plot to establish infrastructure in London in preparation for future attacks was revealed Sunday in the UK’s Daily Telegraph newspaper.
That report, based on sources in Britain, the US and Cyprus, noted that a foreign intelligence agency, unnamed, had tipped off Britain’s MI5 and the Metropolitan Police about the explosives.
On Monday, an unnamed senior Israeli official told Israel’s Kan public broadcaster the warning had come from the Mossad.
On Wednesday, a report in the Yedioth Ahronoth daily expanded on the revelation, citing unnamed Israeli intelligence officials offering new details about the Israeli effort to stymie Hezbollah’s activities — which police in London, Cyprus and Thailand have concluded were ultimately directed at Israeli assets in those countries.
“Hezbollah is preparing for a situation in which it will decide to seek revenge, whether for something taking place between Israel and Lebanon or for an attack on Iran’s nuclear sites, and has established a network of enormous caches of advanced explosive materials” for that purpose, Yedioth quoted an Israeli intelligence official as saying.
The Mossad learned in 2014 of the plan by Hezbollah’s Unit 910, responsible for the group’s foreign operations, to develop the ability to launch massive terror attacks at will around the world.
Mossad information enabled Thai authorities to nab a cell in the country in early 2015, followed in April of that year by the arrest of Hezbollah operative Hussein Abdullah in Cyprus after his cellar was found to contain a ton of ammonium nitrate.
The Israeli source told Yedioth that the effort by the Lebanese terror group involved “long-term planning for immense, game-changing terror attacks. Luckily, someone was in the right place at the right time to issue a warning, to pass on the information and to prevent the establishment of this infrastructure.”

ROCKET STRIKES PROMPT CALLS FOR MAJOR MILITARY OPERATION IN GAZA

https://prophecyupdate.blogspot.com/
Sderot rocket strike prompts calls for major military operation in Gaza
Israeli politicians on the right and center called for serious military action against Gaza Thursday, after a religious school in southern Israel was hit by a rocket launched from the Palestinian territory.
Gazan terrorists launched two missiles at Israel Thursday, breaking over a month of relative calm and bringing the sides once again inching toward full scale military conflict.
Former Israel Defense Forces chief Benny Gantz and former defense minister Avigdor Liberman, both of whom are leading parties competing in upcoming elections, called for severe action against the Hamas terror group that rules Gaza.
Gantz, head of the Blue and White party, urged an “attack of unprecedented intensity,” including targeting leaders of the terror group.
“Put the gun-sight on senior Hamas figures,” Gantz continued. “Afterwards exploit the quiet for a political initiative with economic leverage. Initiate a ceasefire with international mediation, and do not let Hamas dictate it.”
No Palestinian group has taken responsibility for the attack, but the military generally holds Hamas responsible for any violence emanating from the enclave.
After the first rocket attack, which was intercepted by the Iron Dome anti-missile system in the pre-dawn hours of Thursday morning, Israeli aircraft bombed a Hamas underground facility in the southern Gaza Strip.
Tensions with Gaza have been steadily rising in recent days, with Israel blocking Gazan fishermen access to the sea in response to incendiary balloons being launched over the border on Wednesday.
The tensions have threatened to undo an unofficial ceasefire brokered after a major flare-up in early May in which the sides exchanged the most intense fire in years, leading to the deaths of four Israelis and 29 Gazans. Gazans say Israel has been slow in implementing parts of the deal.
Gantz, who commanded of the Israel Defense Forces during the last major confrontation in Gaza in 2014, criticized the government for agreeing to transfer of millions of dollars in cash from Qatar to Hamas as part of the reported deal.
“When you deal with fishermen and the transfer of protection (money) from Qatar, you do not solve the crisis,” Gantz said in a statement. “So what do we do differently? First we carry out an attack of unprecedented intensity”
Liberman, who resigned from his Defense Ministry post last year in protest to what he said was the government’s light-handed treatment to attacks from Gaza, also called for Israel to stop brokering deals for calm with Hamas.
“We must deeply bury the ‘process of arrangements’ [with Hamas] and revive and renew Israeli deterrence,” he said.
“We must strike a severe blow to Hamas and bring about a halt to the launching of balloon firebombs and explosives, rockets and manufacturing of weapons, rioting on the border fence, and, of course, stopping the transfer of protection money,” he said.
Senior URWP lawmaker Bezalel Smotrich said Israel should have taken disproportionate action to the initial rocket attack.
“If this morning after the first rocket, forty high-rise buildings were erased in central Gaza – the rocket that was launched this evening and damaged the…yeshiva in Sderot would not have been launched,” he said in a statement. “A painful military response is necessary in the short term.”
There were no injuries as a result of the rocket Thursday night, but it caused extensive damage to a building housing a yeshiva in the southern city of Sderot, breaking windows and stripping concrete off the walls.
Sderot Mayor Alon Davidi, whose city has been pummeled by Gazan rockets for over 15 years, called for military action against Hamas leaders Ismail Haniya and Yahya Sinwar as part of a wider offensive.
“The situation as it is cannot continue,” he said. “As I said in the past, only a military operation will bring peace to our region,” Davidi said.
