Why Jesus Christ Alone is Worthy
Published on Apr 20, 2019
Why Jesus Christ Alone is Worthy Jesus Christ alone is worthy of our praise because of His sacrifice on the cross for our sins. He willingly sacrificed His life to pay the sin-debt of mankind to reconcile the world to Himself. Pastor Jack Hibbs reminds us of the gift of salvation and what it means to be covered by the blood of the Lamb.
Please Note: Jesus Christ when he walked the Earth “NEVER” had long hair – The Clan that Jesus was born into, “Never” looked kindly upon a Man with long hair, and Jesus Christ “when he walked the Earth” never deliberately went against Man’s customs, or “His” word the Bible.
1Cor. 11:14 Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?
1Cor. 11:15 But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering

DAILY CHRISTIAN BIBLICAL DEVOTIONAL:
JESUS’ RESURRECTION: THE BASIS OF OUR HOPE
Jonathan Brentner – https://www.jonathanbrentner.com/
In what seems now like a lifetime ago, I wanted to run away from the Lord, His people, and the church. Stung by rejection and betrayal, I did not want anything to do with a God who would allow such suffering into my life.
I soon realized, however, that I had nowhere to go; only Jesus had the words of life I desperately needed. Why was I so sure? I knew His resurrection was real; Jesus had physically walked out of His tomb.
My inward assurance rested not only on the overwhelming historical and physical evidence that confirms the reality of Jesus’ resurrection from the dead, but the inward assurance that because Jesus rose from the dead I could trust His Word, His promises. Eventually, I came to a place where I gave thanks for the painful circumstances that besieged me long ago. I know the Lord allowed them for my good and that His love never failed me during my years of distress.
Beyond that, Jesus’ resurrection is the basis of our assurance that someday He will give us resurrection bodies just like His, Philippians 3:20-21 says,
“But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him to subject all things to himself.”
Whether we are alive at the time or already with the Savior, this is when we will receive our imperishable bodies (1 Cor. 15:51-57).
Jesus is coming to take us to His Father’s house in heaven before the start of the seven-year tribulation. And, He is coming for us soon!!!
Our hope of strength for today and a glorious eternity with Jesus rests upon the words of Someone who said He would rise from the dead in three days and then did exactly that. What more assurance could He possibly give to us?
As a result, our hope is rock solid because it does not depend in any way, shape, or form upon our own goodness, but solely upon His sacrifice for our sins and His righteousness. He took our place on the cross and then rose again to prove that He alone can gives us life and an eternity with Him (John 14:6).
There are a couple new blog posts, linked below, that I want to call to your attention. The first, Courageous Hope, follows through on why we can courageously face the storms of life because our Savior lives.
The second, 5 Reasons to Talk about Prophecy, explains why our hope of eternity matters so much to our everyday life whether at work, school, home, or in retirement!
Be sure to check back to my website next week; I am writing another post called From Patmos with Love. I am excited to share this one with you!

The development of the United States as a hostile and somewhat unpredictable force has not gone unnoticed. Russia has accepted that war is coming no matter what it does in dealing with Trump and is upgrading its forces. By some estimates, its army is better equipped and more combat ready than is that of the United States, which spends nearly ten times as much on “defense.”
Iran is also upgrading its defensive capabilities, which are formidable. Now that Washington has withdrawn from the nuclear agreement with Iran, has placed a series of increasingly punitive sanctions on the country, and, most recently, has declared a part of the Iranian military to be a “foreign terrorist organization” and therefore subject to attack by US forces at any time, it is clear that war will be the next step. In three weeks, the United States will seek to enforce a global ban on any purchases of Iranian oil. A number of countries, including US nominal ally Turkey, have said they will ignore the ban and it will be interesting to see what the US Navy intends to do to enforce it. Or what Iran will do to break the blockade.
But even given all of the horrific decisions being made in the White House, there is one organization that is far crazier and possibly even more dangerous. That is the United States Congress, which is, not surprisingly, a legislative body that is viewed positively by only 18 per cent of the American people.
A current bill originally entitled the “Defending American Security from Kremlin Aggression Act (DASKA) of 2019,” is numbered S-1189. It has been introduced in the Senate which will “…require the Secretary of State to determine whether the Russian Federation should be designated as a state sponsor of terrorism and whether Russian-sponsored armed entities in Ukraine should be designated as foreign terrorist organizations.” The bill is sponsored by Republican Senator Cory Gardner of Colorado and is co-sponsored by Democrat Robert Menendez of New Jersey.
The current version of the bill was introduced on April 11th and it is by no means clear what kind of support it might actually have, but the fact that it actually has surfaced at all should be disturbing to anyone who believes it is in the world’s best interest to avoid direct military confrontation between the United States and Russia.
In a a press release by Gardner, who has long been pushing to have Russia listed as a state sponsor of terrorism, a February version of the bill is described as “…comprehensive legislation [that] seeks to increase economic, political, and diplomatic pressure on the Russian Federation in response to Russia’s interference in democratic processes abroad, malign influence in Syria, and aggression against Ukraine, including in the Kerch Strait.
The legislation establishes a comprehensive policy response to better position the US government to address Kremlin aggression by creating new policy offices on cyber defenses and sanctions coordination. The bill stands up for NATO and prevents the President from pulling the US out of the Alliance without a Senate vote. It also increases sanctions pressure on Moscow for its interference in democratic processes abroad and continued aggression against Ukraine.”
The February version of the bill included Menendez, Democrat Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire, Democrat Ben Cardin of Maryland and Republican Lindsey Graham of South Carolina as co-sponsors, suggesting that provoking war is truly bipartisan in today’s Washington.
Each Senator co-sponsor contributed a personal comment to the press release. Gardner observed that “Putin’s Russia is an outlaw regime that is hell-bent on undermining international law and destroying the US-led liberal global order.” Menendez noted that “President Trump’s willful paralysis in the face of Kremlin aggression has reached a boiling point in Congress” while Graham added that “Our goal is to change the status quo and impose meaningful sanctions and measures against Putin’s Russia. He should cease and desist meddling in the US electoral process, halt cyberattacks on American infrastructure, remove Russia from Ukraine, and stop efforts to create chaos in Syria.” Cardin contributed “Congress continues to take the lead in defending US national security against continuing Russian aggression against democratic institutions at home and abroad” and Shaheen observed that “This legislation builds on previous efforts in Congress to hold Russia accountable for its bellicose behavior against the United States and its determination to destabilize our global world order.”
The Senatorial commentary is, of course, greatly exaggerated and sometimes completely false regarding what is going on in the world, but it is revealing of how ignorant American legislators can be and often are. The Senators also ignore the fact that the designation of presumed Kremlin surrogate forces as “foreign terrorist organizations” is equivalent to a declaration of war against them by the US military, while hypocritically calling Russia a state sponsor of terrorism is bad enough, as it is demonstrably untrue. But the real damage comes from the existence of the bill itself. It will solidify support for hardliners on both sides, guaranteeing that there will be no rapprochement between Washington and Moscow for the foreseeable future, a development that is bad for everyone involved. Whether it can be characterized as an unintended consequence of unwise decision making or perhaps something more sinister involving a deeply corrupted congress and administration remains to be determined.
The new commander of the IDF’s Ground Forces said Thursday the Lebanese terrorist group Hezbollah was still planning to carry out a surprise invasion of northern Israel, despite the recent Israeli operation to uncover and destroy an extensive network of cross-border attack tunnels dug by the Iran-backed militia.
Maj. Gen. Yoel Strick was tapped to lead the military’s Ground Forces in February, amid increased criticism charging that Israeli troops were not prepared for war. His comments came less than four mos after the IDF concluded its anti-tunnel operation along the Lebanese border.
“Hezbollah still has plans to invade the Galilee,” he told the Ynet news site in an interview, referring to entering Israeli territory through a cross-border tunnel network. “Of course we won’t allow that to happen, we will thwart these plans.”
In December, Israel accused Hezbollah of digging cross-border tunnels into its territory from southern Lebanon and launched an operation to destroy them.
According to the army, Hezbollah had planned to use the tunnels to kidnap or kill civilians or soldiers, and to seize a slice of Israeli territory in the event of any hostilities.
The IDF did not give a total figure for the tunnels found, though it announced in January that six were destroyed during the course of the operation.
Strick also voiced support for declaring war on Lebanon.
“In the next war, it would be a mistake for us to distinguish between the state of Lebanon and Hezbollah, since Hezbollah is a political actor and part of the government,” Strick said.
Strick also threatened to destroy Syria’s S-300 system if were to be used against Israeli fighter jets, regardless of the potential blowback Jerusalem would face from Russia, which provided its ally Syria with the powerful air defense battery.
Germany’s armed forces are currently studying the possibility of acquiring nuclear bombers capable of using the new American B61-12 atomic bombs.
Meanwhile, the Pentagon itself plans to deploy these new atomic bombs in the German region of Eifel, in violation of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.
The German air force already has multi-tasking Tornado warplanes, which are already capable of deploying American atomic bombs. But those aircraft are going to be replaced, possibly, by European-developed Eurofighters, or by United States manufactured F/A-18 Super Hornets.
Either way, the warplane that Germany selects will have to be equipped with the AMAC (Aircraft Monitoring and Control) system, which allows the use of the new American atomic bombs and enables the regulation of the power of the explosion as well as at what height the bombs explode after they are launched.
Germany does not manufacture atomic weapons but has come to consider itself as a nuclear power because it has vectors to use them, and believes that this gives it the right to sit on the UN Security Council sharing the permanent member position occupied by France.
Both countries would thus represent the European Union, under the auspices of NATO.
A cluster of earthquakes shook the Santa Cruz Mountains on Thursday afternoon. Less than 20 seconds separated the two largest quakes, which hit about 2:35 p.m. near Boulder Creek.
The first, a magnitude 2.8, was centered about 12.5 miles west-northwest of the town and the second, a magnitude 2.5, was centered about 13 miles in the same direction.
According to the USGS, four smaller earthquakes ranging from magnitude 1.4 to magnitude 1.9 were reported in the area between about 2:10 p.m. and 2:45 p.m. Thursday afternoon.
There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
The San Andreas fault runs through the region. In 1906, the fault produced a magnitude 7.9 earthquake that killed more than 3,000 people and destroyed 28,000 buildings.
Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido on Friday called on supporters to take to the streets on May 1 for what he called “the largest march in the history” of the South American country to keep the pressure on President Nicolas Maduro to leave power.
Guaido, the head of the opposition-controlled National Assembly who in January invoked the constitution to assume an interim presidency on the basis that Maduro’s 2018 re-election was illegitimate, reiterated his call for the country’s armed forces to take his side in the three-month power struggle.
“They will need to listen to the people saying: enough,” Guaido told a crowd gathered at a plaza in eastern Caracas, setting the date for the march for May 1, International Workers’ Day.
“We call on all the people to join in the largest march in the history of Venezuela to demand the end to the usurpation so this tragedy can end.”
Guaido has been recognized by the United States and most Western nations as the South American country’s rightful leader. The oil-rich country is in a sixth year of recession, marked by hyperinflation and shortages of basic goods that have prompted more than three million to emigrate.
Maduro calls Guaido a U.S. puppet seeking to oust him in a coup and blames the country’s economic woes on a U.S.-led “economic war.” His ruling socialist party has frequently responded to Guaido’s calls for protests over the past few months with simultaneous marches of their own.
Guaido did not specify the final destination of the May 1 demonstration. But some in attendance on Friday called out suggestions that they march on the Miraflores presidential palace.
“He is not alone,” said Ileidi Vargas, a 58-year-old retired teacher who attended the opposition rally on Friday. “Each day we are moving forward, and there is no turning back. It might not happen tomorrow, but it will be soon.”
Despite Guaido’s offers of amnesty to members of the military who facilitate a transition, Maduro remains in control of the armed forces and the day-to-day functions of government. (Reporting by Mayela Armas and Deisy Buitrago Writing by Luc Cohen Editing by Marguerita Choy)
Christians are slowly waking up the fact that there is no such thing as privacy and any comments in the public realm that don’t line up with the status quo could get them fired.
The latest example is Kristy Higgs of Fairford, Gloucestershire in the United Kingdom who posted opposition on her personal Facebook page to teaching about homosexuality and transgenderism in the nation’s schools.
“They are brainwashing our children,” Higgs wrote. “Relationships and Sex Education education means, for example, that children will be taught that all relationships are equally valid and ‘normal,’ so that same-sex marriage is exactly the same as traditional marriage and that gender is a matter of choice, not biology, so that it’s up to them what sex they are.”
“At the same, it means that expressing and teaching fundamental Christian beliefs relating to the creation of men and women and marriage will in practice become forbidden because they conflict with the new morality and are seen as indoctrination into unacceptable religious bigotry,” she added.
She additionally shared an article to her Facebook account about two transgender-centered children’s books that are being utilized in American schools, writing above the link, “This is happening in our primary schools now.”
According to the organization Christian Concern, Higgs’ posts were only visible to her friends. One unidentified individual who saw her comments contacted Higgs’ place of employment, Farmor’s School in Fairford, to lodge a complaint.
Following an investigation and a six-hour hearing, Higgs was dismissed from her duties at the school where she worked. Reasons provided for her firing included “illegal discrimination,” “serious inappropriate use of social media” and “online comments that could bring the school into disrepute and damage the reputation of the school.”
Higgs says, however, that she feels that she is the one being discriminated against.
“I have been punished for sharing concerns about Relationships and Sex Education. I hold these views because of my Christian beliefs, beliefs and views which are shared by hundreds of thousands of parents across the UK,” she said in a statement. “My number one concern has always been the effect that learning about sex and gender in school will have on children at such a young age.”
Christian Concern and The Christian Legal Centre are now assisting Higgs with the matter.
“Many Christians have faced pressure for expressing these views in the workplace before, but in this case, Kristie has been dismissed for sharing her views among friends on Facebook,” said Chief Executive Andrea Williams. “What Kristie shared on Facebook simply reflects the genuine and justified concerns of a parent about the sexual ideology currently being imposed on her own children and thousands of children across the UK.”
Kristy, however is not the only Christian to find herself in these circumstances. Christians in several different countries including the United Kingdom, Australia and the United States have encountered the same persecution and loss of job for expressing personal opinions on social media that were considered “hateful”.
First, the case of a young woman named Madeline. In Canberra, Australia, an 18-year-old contract worker for the company Capital Kids Parties was let go after she put up a Facebook filter expressing her opposition to a same sex marriage vote. Her message read simply, “It’s OK to vote no”.
According to her employer, Madlin Sims, this opinion was too “homophobic” to be tolerated. The boss went on to add, “Advertising your desire to vote no for same sex marriage is, in my eyes, hate speech. Voting no is homophobic. Advertising your homophobia is hate speech.”
Any opposing viewpoints, no matter how reasonably expressed or moral in nature, seem to fit her definition of “hate speech”. She went so far as to call Madeline’s beliefs “dangerous to children” in case she might voice her beliefs and encourage youngsters to believe in the sanctity of marriage.
Next, take the case of Charlene Carter of Aurora, Colorado. She was fired from Southwest Airlines for objecting to her union’s support for abortion. The veteran flight attendant found out that the union had paid to send its officials to attend pro-abortion marches.
The union dues that she was required to pay were being used to fund a campaign that promoted the murder unborn babies, and this prompted her use Facebook to express her concern as well as contact Aubrey Stone, a union leader.
After her termination, she is now suing for religious discrimination, alleging that “Stone and her company’s actions represented retaliation over her bid to stop paying compelled fees for its political, ideological, and other non-bargaining spending, and to engage in other speech and activity in opposition to Local 556”.
The company had claimed that her pro-life stance was highly offensive in nature and that message she sent to Ms. Stone was harassing in nature. The lawsuit has now exposed the fact that a total of fourteen supporters of the effort to decertify the union were fired.
In a third case, a British man named Adrian Smith was demoted from his position has manager as well as suffering a 40% pay cut by Trafford Housing Trust. He had posted on Facebook that gay weddings in churches were “an equality too far”.
Incredibly, Smith had expressed his support for civil unions and that the government could define marriage, as a civil contract, to include same-sex unions. He simply opposed the imposition of homosexual marriages in the Church. The case began Facebook when Smith linked on Facebook to a BBC News article titled “Gay Church Marriages Get Go Ahead”.
After linking to the article on his Facebook profile, he added the simple comment “An equality too far”. Because he had 45 of his work colleagues as friends on his Facebook profile, his employer considered the post a public statement and took action against him.
Smith’s lawyer said in court that “If someone expresses a lawful opinion outside of work, the fact that there is a risk some people might be offended by it, such risks always exist.” Now the risk is that Christian views held outside of work are ground for demotion or even termination.
In the fourth case, Felix Ngole who attended Shelfield University in Manchester, England, was removed from a university program after a Facebook discussion in which he expressed his Christian beliefs. Once again, the opinion that marriage should be between a man and a woman, writing that “same sex marriage is a sin whether we like it or not. It is God’s words and man’s sentiments will not change His words.”
Ngole, who was a second-year Master’s student studying to be a social worker, then became the subject of a “Fitness to Practice” hearing, as he was advised that he “may have caused offense to some individuals” and had “transgressed boundaries which are not deemed appropriate for someone entering the social work profession.”
Following additional meetings, the Sheffield committee concluded that Ngole’s beliefs would negatively affect his “ability to carry out a role as a social worker,” and was consequently advised that he was “excluded from further study on a program leading to a professional qualification.” The school recently informed Ngole that he is “no longer recognized as a university student.”
“Your student record will be terminated shortly and your library membership and university computer account withdrawn. You may wish to contact your funding body for advice on your financial position,” it wrote.
He responded to the ruling with the following comments:
“I was born in Cameroon, under a dictatorship, where free speech was heavily censored. I had always been led to believe that in the UK people could share their beliefs and opinions without fear of persecution from public authorities. Of all places, I would expect universities to be places for free exchange of ideas and debate. It is shocking that, as a student, I can be thrown out just for believing in the Bible.
“Students go to university to discuss, debate and learn. We are seeing people banned from speaking at debating societies, and pressure groups banning anyone who dares to disagree with the liberal agenda being set by them. My case highlights the complicity of the liberal elite in this worrying movement.”
In numerous cases, personal opinions and political speech on Facebook and other social media are being used to persecute Christians for their beliefs. Christian opposition to same sex marriage, abortion and other sins is being cited as hate speech in an increasing attack on Christian values in the developed world.
Researchers from the University of New Hampshire conducted a study to document declines in about 100 wild bee species critical to pollinating crops throughout New England. What they discovered, according to the study, was a collapse in the wild bee population across the state, reported AP.
Researchers analysed 119 species in the state from a museum collection at the college dating back more than a century. Sandra Rehan and Minna Mathiasson published the study in the peer-reviewed journal called Insect and Conservation Diversity this month. They concluded 14 species found across New England were on the decline by as much as 90%. Several of the species include leaf-cutter and mining bees.
“We know that wild bees are greatly at risk and not doing well worldwide,” Rehan, assistant professor of biological sciences and the senior author on the study, said in a prepared statement. “This status assessment of wild bees shines a light on the exact species in decline, besides the well-documented bumblebees. Because these species are major players in crop pollination, it raises concerns about compromising the production of key crops and the food supply in general.”
The AP noted that wild bee populations across the world are in decline, and scientists have blamed a wide range of factors including industrialisation, insecticides, herbicides, parasites, disease, and climate change. Bees are crucial for pollination, and about one-third of the human diet derives from plants that are directly pollinated by bees.
Greg Burtt, founder of Burtt’s Apple Orchard in Cabot, Vermont, told the AP that his farm relies heavily on wild bees for crop production.
“Making sure that pollinators in the area are healthy and doing well is definitely something we’re concerned about,” Burtt said.
Jeff Lozier, a bee expert from the University of Alabama who didn’t participate in the study, said the results are a critical step in expanding research into lesser-known species of bees. He cautioned that the study relied upon bees in a museum that were not collected “for the purpose of large scale population surveys.”
“The most important use of the data in my view is in providing a baseline set of hypotheses for groups of species that are potentially declining or stable across a much greater set of species than is usually examined, which can then be investigated in more detail to determine why they may be changing,” Lozier said in an email interview. “This study doesn’t really determine the why quite yet, but gives us a reference point for further study.”
The study noticed that half of those wild bees on the decline were located in higher elevation regions like the White Mountains than in the state’s coastal areas. The study said as the wild bees shift northward, some of the species don’t have the same kind of flowers and plants to pollinate.
“They have nowhere else to go,” Rehan said. “That is the biggest concern.”
Rehan warned as wild bee populations collapse so will crop yields, which could produce food shortages across the country. She says wild bees are facing similar threats that have also caused honeybee populations to plunge – including the overuse of pesticides and herbicides, a lack of seasonal wild plant diversity and volatile weather.
Truth In Accounting (TIA), a 501©(3) – focused on government financial information, published a new report that suggests the federal government’s overall financial conditions worsened by $4.5 trillion in 2018. The report also calculates the actual national debt on a per taxpayer basis.
With assets of $3.84 trillion, the federal government’s unfunded obligations and debt total $108.94 trillion, which contributed to a $105 trillion debt burden.
“Our elected officials have made repeated financial decisions that have left the federal government with a debt burden of $105 trillion, including unfunded Social Security and Medicare promises. That equates to a $696,000 burden for every federal taxpayer,” TIA states.
TIA rated the federal federal government with an “F” for its financial outlook and worsening fiscal situation that could trigger a crisis in the not too distant future.
TIA explains that while the $779 billion national deficit is troubling, it doesn’t reflect the true financial situation.
“The overall decline in Net Position presents a better picture of the government’s financial decline,” the report states.
“The federal government’s financial position continued to deteriorate – and much faster than indicated by the government’s own ‘bottom-line,’” TIA’s Director of Research, Bill Bergman, said.
TIA pulled data from the “Financial Report of the U.S. Government” for the fiscal year ending Sept. 2018.
TIA’s “bottom line” measures the government’s unfunded debt, jumped by $4 trillion in 2018, about 4 times faster than the budget deficit or net operating cost.
Interest expenses on the national debt have been one of the fastest growing expenses, “while the government’s estimate of the fiscal gap – the amount of spending cuts and/or tax increases necessary to keep the debt/Gross Domestic Product ratio from rising in the future – doubled,” TIA reports.
“Perhaps the most alarming feature of the government’s release of its annual financial report was the public reaction: deafening silence; zero coverage in the mainstream media,” Bergman added.
TIA said the $1.5 trillion in students loans was the fastest growing asset on the federal balance sheet.
Bergman said that the Treasury Department doesn’t include unfunded Social Security and Medicare liabilities on the federal balance sheet, these debts are included in TIA’s report.
The federal government’s assets stand at $3.84 trillion, TIA notes. Income is derived from corporate taxes (6%), excise, estate, gift taxes and other revenue (11.5%), and individual income tax and withholding taxes (82.5%).
The combined unfunded liabilities of the federal government is $108.94 trillion. The government owes $34.80 trillion in Social Security benefits, $48.79 in Medicare benefits, $7.89 trillion in military benefits, $15.81 trillion in publicly held debt, and $1.56 trillion in other liabilities.
