God has prepared Jerusalem as a seat for Jesus during the Millennial Kingdom. He gave this city ultimately to Jesus and this is why Satan wants it so badly and is trying to wage war on it constantly. That’s why every religion claims to have a part of it, that’s why the Antichrist wants to rule from there. That’s why the enemy is always, always and Jerusalem will be the cup of sorrow and all that are touching it will be scratched, a heavy burdensome stone. Behold, Jerusalem is the problem of the world. Why? Because the world is going to be so consumed with the Antichrist spirit because Jerusalem originally, ultimately was prepared for Jesus to rule the world from.
In a world that is spiralling out of control on every level, it is good to know that beyond the political chaos and advancing moral depravity is a time where God’s will is going to be done on earth as it is in Heaven. We live in a season of time where many of our thoughts and prayers include the phrase; How long, oh Lord?
“…“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also…”
We do not know the day or the hour when Jesus is going to “come again and receive us unto Himself” via the Rapture of the Church. However, we do know the duration of the time that precedes our return with Him to rule and reign on an earth that is governed in righteousness. The Bible makes it clear by defining the Tribulation as forty-two months, 2,520 days or 7 years according to the Hebrew lunar calendar of 30 day months. This time also referred to as the Seventieth week of Daniel.
When the angel Gabriel appeared to Mary and announced to her that she would be with Child of the Holy Spirit he also pointed to a time where there will be peace on earth and good will toward men;
“…He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.”…”
The Son of the Highest, Jesus, is someday going to sit on the throne of His human ancestor, King David, and He shall reign forever and ever. What Gabriel revealed to Mary the prophet Isaiah also foretold to Israel;
“…For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace There will be no end, Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, To order it and establish it with judgement and justice From that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this…”
The Child was born and the Son was given but, the government has yet to be upon His shoulder, the shoulder implying responsibility. When Jesus came into the world as a Child and Son He came for the purpose of dying for the sins of the world. When He returns He is coming to rule the world in righteousness from the throne of David as Isaiah and Gabriel foretold.
King David even recognised that there was coming a day when the enemies of Israel would be subdued when he wrote in the Psalms;
“…The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool.”…”
Someday the enemies of the Lord will be put under His feet, meaning be under His rule. The question we all have in this increasingly corrupt age is, when? We know it will be at the end of the 7 year tribulation that the Prince of peace will return to the earth with His Church and the Millennial reign of Christ will begin. How long, oh Lord, before this glorious time? We do not know the day or the hour of His coming for His Church because we do not know the starting point of the tribulation. Although we know its exact duration once it begins.
Back to where we started and the season of political and moral corruption we are all wishing would come to an end. We can say this in answer to the how long, oh Lord, question;
“…The burden of the word of the Lord against Israel. Thus says the Lord, who stretches out the heavens, lays the foundation of the earth, and forms the spirit of man within him: “Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of drunkenness to all the surrounding peoples, when they lay siege against Judah and Jerusalem. And it shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces, though all nations of the earth are gathered against it…”
The nations of the world are gathering against Jerusalem today. The United Nations is constantly condemning Israel through its antisemitic resolutions while it remains silent regarding the atrocities committed against Christians and Jews around the world and the human rights violations committed by tyrannical and oppressive governments.
Jerusalem is a burdensome stone to all peoples and someday, all nations, including the United States, will gather in opposition against the city from which the Son of the Highest will rule and reign in righteousness. There is also something else that will happen when Jerusalem stands alone against the rest of the world;
“…“And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will look on Me whom they pierced. Yes, they will mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son, and grieve for Him as one grieves for a firstborn…”
After the Spirit of grace and supplication is poured out on the Jews and Jerusalem and they recognise that Jesus of Nazareth is their Messiah and mourn and grieve for their national rejection of their Savior the purpose of the Great Tribulation will have been fulfilled and then this happens;
“…Behold, the day of the Lord is coming, And your spoil will be divided in your midst. For I will gather all the nations to battle against Jerusalem; The city shall be taken, The houses rifled, And the women ravished. Half of the city shall go into captivity, But the remnant of the people shall not be cut off from the city. Then the Lord will go forth And fight against those nations, As He fights in the day of battle. And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, Which faces Jerusalem on the east. And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two, From east to west, Making a very large valley; Half of the mountain shall move toward the north And half of it toward the south…”
The world is gathered politically against Jerusalem, someday they will gather physically against the city and the Lord will fight against them as He fights in the day of battle. Jesus will return and stand on the Mount of Olives as King of Kings and Lord of Lords and He will sit on the throne of David ruling the nations with a rod of Iron for a thousand years.
When is the Rapture going to take place that sets all this in motion? We do not know the day of the hour but the evidence seems to indicate soon!
Even so, come quickly Lord Jesus!
