BECOMING LIKE LITTLE CHILDREN

https://gracethrufaith.com/ask-a-bible-teacher/becoming-like-little-children/
QUESTION:    Do you think all children in the world under the age of accountability will be raptured? Even those in unbelieving households?
ANSWER:    Yes I do. I believe all young children belong to God regardless of their earthly parentage. He does not count their sins against them until they reach the age of accountability. That means in His eyes they are without sin and are qualified to dwell in His presence.
In Matt. 18:3 Jesus said we have to change and become like little children to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. He meant we have to be without sin in God’s eyes like they are. We can only become that way by allowing the blood of Jesus to wash away all our sins.

BECOMING AS PERFECT AS GOD IS

https://gracethrufaith.com/ask-a-bible-teacher/becoming-as-perfect-as-god-is/
QUESTION:    A member of our church says that Matthew 5:48 says that we are perfect once we are saved. I understand that that verse says that we should strive to be perfect; our goal is to be perfect like Jesus. Which is it?
ANSWER:    The context of Matthew 5 is fulfilling the requirements of the Law.
In Matthew 5:20 Jesus said our righteousness would have to surpass that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the Law in order to gain entry into the Kingdom on our own.
Then He explained what the Law really requires:
The commandment against murder means you can never be angry.
The commandment against adultery means you can never have a lustful thought.
If different parts of your body cause you to sin, you should cut them off.
Don’t get divorced for any reason other than adultery.
Always do what you say you’ll do.
Always give more than others demand of you.
Don’t just love your friends, love your enemies as well.
In other words, be as perfect as God is (Matt. 5:21-48).
In Romans 3:20 Paul wrote that no one will be declared righteous by keeping the Law because it’s impossible for man to meet these standards. Then he said a righteousness has come from God that’s apart from the Law. It comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe (Romans 3:21-22).
From the time we first believe, God sees us as a new creation, one who is as righteous as He is (2 Cor. 5:17,21). It’s as if we’ve never sinned at all, and that’s what gains us entry into the Kingdom.
In Romans 7:19-20 Paul said when we sin after being saved, God looks at these sins as coming from our old sin nature, not from the new us.
The new us is perfect in His sight, because with one sacrifice Jesus has made us perfect forever (Hebrews 10:14). So from God’s perspective, your friend is correct. We are already perfect. All the striving in the world won’t make us perfect, only our faith in what the Lord has done for us can do that.
None of this is intended to mean that we should just sin as much as we want. Out of gratitude to God for seeing us in this impossibly perfect way, we should try to live up to what we’ve already become (Phil 3:16). Not because we’re trying to achieve perfection, but because we’re so thankful that we don’t have to.

BECOMING SONS OF GOD

https://gracethrufaith.com/ask-a-bible-teacher/becoming-sons-god/
QUESTION:    How do people become sons of God? I know the Bible says in Romans 8 that it is by grace through faith we are sons of God, but Jesus said in Matthew 5 that we may be sons of God if we love our enemies. Can you help me sort out this confusion?
ANSWER:    John 1:12-13 gives us the answer.
“Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God — children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.”
And in Galatians 4:4-7 Paul said,
“But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship. Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.” So you are no longer a slave, but a son; and since you are a son, God has made you also an heir.”
From these passages we can see that if we are born again we are sons of God. And obviously, this applies equally to men and women.
In Matt. 5:9 Jesus said, “Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called sons of God.” In Romans 12:16-17 Paul confirmed this by saying that as believers we should live in harmony with one another. We should not repay evil with evil, and if possible, as far as it depends on us, we should live at peace with everyone. Being a peacemaker is evidence of our belief in the Prince of Peace.

ANALYSIS: SYRIAN PEACE DEAL WON’T BRING PEACE FOR ISRAEL

http://prophecyupdate.blogspot.com/
Analysis: Syrian peace deal won’t bring peace for Israel
Thousands of Syrians who had fled fighting began to return to their homes Friday after the Syrian rebels in southern Syria reached an agreement with Russia. Russia is a key ally of the Syrian regime and had been leading talks for a ceasefire.
The rebels agreed to hand over heavy weapons and some of their areas of control near Dera’a.
The deal is good news for the Syrian regime, Iran, Russia and Hezbollah, who have all won this round, easily vanquishing the rebels in the south after seven years of civil war. It is also good news for Jordan because it means that the massive pressure of around 200,000 civilians who had fled fighting toward Jordan’s border will now let up since they are likely to begin returning home.
However, for Israel, the deal may not bring peace. The full details of the agreement are unclear but it does not appear to include the areas of Syrian rebel control adjacent to the Golan Heights. It also does not include the area of Islamic State control near the Golan. That means that Israel’s security interests are not part of the deal.
In fact, Iran’s Press TV state media has celebrated the deal claiming it will now undermine Israel’s “collaboration” with the “militants” next to Quneitra and its control of the Golan.
On Friday, Israel responded to an errant shell that fell on its side of the 1974 cease-fire line on the Golan Heights by striking a Syrian regime position on the other side.
This does not bode well for the period ahead. There are a plethora of concerns for Jerusalem.
First and foremost is the presence of Iran in Syria and Iranian-backed militias who took part in the recent offensive. Israel has said that Iran must leave Syria as the war winds down, but its militias are also active in the south. Furthermore, Hezbollah is active not far from Quneitra. As the rebels lose control, these anti-Israel forces continue their drive for control of the area near the Golan.
Then there is the question of the thousands of Syrian civilians who have sheltered next to the Golan border.
They have arrived over the last two weeks and Israel has supplied them with humanitarian aid. Many of these civilians fear the Syrian regime’s brutality and revenge attacks. Will they be able to return home under a subsequent deal? Israel has been isolated in negotiations about southern Syria. This is partly its own doing; it is not a party to the Syrian conflict and has not taken in large numbers of refugees like Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey have.
However, Israel has stressed numerous times that the Iranian threat in Syria is a redline. Towards that end there have been numerous air strikes – some declared and others reported in foreign media – in recent years. These tensions have increased dramatically since last year.
In some ways the defeat of the rebels in southern Syria marks the end of the Syrian conflict. The civil war began with protests in Dera’a. The rebels are either defeated, or have ended up under Turkish protection in the north.
But a new round is beginning: the fight over the post-conflict era of Syria. That is a complex struggle involving the US and Turkey, but it also involves Israel.
And for Jerusalem the main questions are whether Damascus will come out stronger or Iran will come out more of the winner in southern Syria, and what the Russian role will be. If the rebel deal near Dera’a succeeds, the regime will set its sights on the Golan border area and all of these questions will take on greater importance.

PERSECUTION GROWING WORLDWIDE

http://prophecyupdate.blogspot.com/
Religious Persecution Worsening Worldwide
Despite ever-increasing awareness of religious freedom atrocities around the world, gravely affecting the lives of millions of Christians and other minorities, there is a major problem — persecution is getting worse.
The U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom noted such in its 2018 Annual Report, released in April, just weeks before Family Research Council President Tony Perkins was appointed as the bipartisan body’s newest commissioner at the time.
Persecution watchdogs and humanitarian groups have deemed the rise in killings, imprisonment, torture, rape, and other crimes that religious minorities suffer around the world as unacceptable, but what can the United States and the Trump administration do differently to bring about real hope of improvement?
Plenty, according to Perkins, who participated in a June 15 phone interview with The Christian Post.
Perkins said that, in the face of worsening persecution gripping different regions and nations, President Donald Trump is taking unprecedented steps to prioritize religious freedom with other governments, and is actively bringing back America to its foundations of protecting minorities, no matter who and where they are.
As evidence, he pointed to Trump’s recent meetings and talk on human rights with the leaders of countries where Christians, and other minorities, face extreme violence and persecution, such as Nigeria and North Korea.
CP: How big of a concern is it that the latest USCIRF report seems to recognize that awareness of persecution is rising, both in the public eye and by the government, and yet religious freedom abuses are worsening?
Perkins: That is true. I think, in part, the reason we have seen for this unprecedented rise in religious persecution, and not just in Christian persecution, is that our government has not placed a priority on religious freedom, either domestically at home with policies, or abroad. That is changing under the present administration.
Next month, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is holding, to my knowledge, the first-ever ministerial calling-in for diplomats to discuss the importance of religious freedom. That is unprecedented. It is going to be widespread, it is going to be global; I think about 80 diplomats are being invited to this ministerial.
That will send the message that America is placing a priority, as it should, on religious freedom. I communicated with him (Pompeo) as he was taking over this post, and he said that religious freedom was going to be a priority.
So while I think that awareness will continue to grow, I think that what you will also see now is that there is going to be a decrease [in persecution]. I think it is going to take some time, but I think you are going to begin to see a growth in the respect and the understanding of religious freedom around the world.

INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY IGNORES GENOCIDE OF CHRISTIANS IN NIGERIA

http://prophecyupdate.blogspot.com/
  • This brings the death toll of Christians to more than 6,000 since the start of 2018.
  • “The Islamists of northern Nigeria seem determined to turn Nigeria into an Islamic Sultanate and replace Liberal Democracy with Sharia as the National Ideology. The object of course, is to supplant the Constitution with Sharia as the source of legislation.” — National Christian Elders Forum, a wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria.
  • The Nigerian government and the international community, however, have from the start done little to address the situation. This lack of participation is not surprising: they cannot even acknowledge its roots, namely, the intolerant ideology of jihad.
In what the Christian Association of Nigeria is calling a “pure genocide,” 238 more Christians were killed and churches desecrated by Muslims last week in the west African nation. This brings the death toll of Christians to more than 6,000 since the start of 2018.
According to a joint statement by the Christian Association, an umbrella group of various Christian denominations, “There is no doubt that the sole purpose of these attacks is aimed at ethnic cleansing, land grabbing and forceful ejection of the Christian natives from their ancestral land and heritage.”
The statement condemned the recent attacks, “where over 200 persons were brutally killed and our churches destroyed without any intervention from security agencies in spite of several distress calls made to them.”
The statement adds that the majority of those 6,000 Christians massacred this year were “mostly children, women and the aged… What is happening in … Nigeria is pure genocide and must be stopped immediately.”
The Abuse of Egypt’s Coptic Christians
http://prophecyupdate.blogspot.com/
  • The violence, and incitement to violence, directed by Egyptian Muslims against the Copts—especially those organized sectarian campaigns by the Muslim Brotherhood and related groups—are crimes against humanity and should be treated as such by the international community.
    • What is long overdue from the West is a robust policy to defend and secure human rights for everyone, especially minorities, in Muslim-majority countries… [as in] the Helsinki Agreement of 1975.
We have seen and recoiled from the horrific footage of Coptic Christians beheaded by ISIS in 2015 in Libya and the repeated bombings over the past two decades of Coptic churches in Egypt. We read about the Maspero massacre in 2011, when Egyptian military tanks, deployed to protect peaceful Christian demonstrators, instead rolled over them, crushing many to death. And we continue to receive reports of Coptic girls abducted, compelled to convert to Islam and forced into marriages with Muslims.
Each time there is news of another act of hate-filled violence against the Copts, or other religious minorities, we shudder. When there are attacks against Yazidis in the Fertile Crescent, the Baha’is in Iran and Christians and Ahmadis in Pakistan, we ask how Muslims can affirm these crimes against humanity perpetrated under the banner of Islam.

RUSSIAN NAVY MISSILE DRILL SCHEDULED FOR DATES OF NATO SUMMIT

http://prophecyupdate.blogspot.com/
Russian navy missile drill in Med set for dates of NATO summit, Putin’s talks with Trump, Netanyahu
The Russian navy has announced cruise missile-firing drills off the Syrian coast starting on July 11 and 12. The area between the Syrian coast and Cyprus will be off-limits to air and shipping traffic on those dates and on July 18,19, 25 and 26, according to a Notice to Airmen issued by the Russian Black Sea Fleet. The drills of Kalibr-NK cruise missiles will be conducted by around 10 warships of the Russian Navy’s Mediterranean Sea task force.
DEBKAfile’s military sources report that the Russians have timed their drill to coincide with the two-day NATO summit in Brussels this week. Syria’s skies and shores will be closed to traffic in those days, which also fall four days before the July 16 Helsinki summit between Presidents Donald Trump and Putin, which will certainly cover the Syrian crisis.
This closure will remove any outside obstacle for impeding the Russian-backed Syrian government takeover of Quneitra opposite Israel’s Golan border, after  they wind up their ongoing operation for gaining control of the Daraa province and the Syrian-Jordanian border.
Israeli warplanes will also find it hard to operate over Syria during the second half of July, starting from the 11th when Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu sits down with President Putin in Moscow. Putin is planning to counter Israel’s complaints with a demand for Netanyahu’s acceptance of the forcible Russian-Syrian takeover of the Quneitra region on its border from rebel control, an arrangement the Russians hope to model on the still unfinished Daraa formula.
Hizballah’s elite commando Radwan Force as well as pro-Iranian Shiite militias are fighting in Daraa under the command of Iranian Revolutionary Guards officers.
The Americans appeared to be in conciliatory mode ahead of the Trump-Putin summit: The US Navy command ordered the USS Harry Truman aircraft carrier and strike force to sail out of the Mediterranean to the Atlantic, after conducting a joint exercise with the French Navy’s air force. French Rafale M Fighters landed on the Truman’s decks for joint drills with US F/A-18/F Super Hornets. As of Sunday, July 8, not a single US warship is to be seen between Syria and Cyprus. US jets can only now reach Syrian air space from Iraq or the Gulf.

FIRES CAUSED BY KITES SENT FROM GAZA RAGE OUTSIDE ISRAELI KIBBUTZ

http://prophecyupdate.blogspot.com/
Large fire caused by kite sent from Gaza rages outside Israeli kibbutz
Two fires blazed near Israeli communities near the Gaza Strip Saturday afternoon, caused by incendiary kites flown into Israel from the territory.
A large fire was raging near Kibbutz Or Haner, Channel 10 news reported. Nine firefighting teams were at the scene, with the support of four firefighting aircraft.
A second fire was reported near Kibbutz Nir Am.
Officials said there was no current danger to the communities themselves.
Recent months have seen an uptick in violence at the Gaza border, with weekly violent Palestinian protests, ongoing rocket attacks, and the new phenomenon of incendiary kites and balloons flown over the border, sometimes at a rate of several dozen each day.
The incendiary devices have sparked near-daily fires that have burned thousands of acres of farmland, parks, and forests. Some have been found connected to explosive devices.
On Friday police launched a campaign urging children to stay away from any unknown kites, balloons, or drones they may find on the ground this summer.
On Friday thousands of Israelis took part in a rally near Gaza calling for the return of the bodies of IDF soldiers held by Hamas.
Some 4,000 people took part in the Israeli event, waving Israeli flags and flying blue kites in a peaceful counter to the flaming airborne devices launched at Israel in recent months from Gaza.
Separately Friday, a few thousand Palestinians participated in the weekly “March of Return” protests on the Gaza border. One was reported killed when a device he was holding exploded.

IRAN: THE AYATOLLAH’S PROMISED PARADISE

http://prophecyupdate.blogspot.com/
Iran: The Ayatollah’s Promised Paradise
  • At the time no one could imagine that the dreams we all had for our beloved Khuzestan would become a nightmare. But it has, thanks to four decades of misrule, incompetence, corruption and sheer brutality by the Khomeinist regime. When he seized power, Khomeini said in a notorious speech that the Shah had offered Iranians paradise in this world to deprive them of paradise in the next world, boasting that his Islamic Republic will provide both.
  • Naturally, we don’t know about the next world; but in this world the ayatollah turned a corner of paradise that was Khuzestan into a veritable hell.
In the late 1960s when the concept of “development” and “economic take-off” was all the rage in academic and media circles, many experts insisted that the so-called “developing nations” needed to showcase at least part of their territory as a model for progress and an inspiration for modernization.
Being one of those so-called “developing nations” Iran, under the Shah, chose its southwestern province Khuzestan as that showcase.
The choice wasn’t difficult. For, Khuzestan was a resource-rich province and already dotted with some of the modern infrastructures that other provinces had to wait a decade or more to acquire. Thanks to the oil industry, Khuzestan was the first province to have a modern electricity generating system and piped water in most of its cities, at least 20 years before the capital Tehran did. The province was also the hub of Iran’s sole railway network, the famous Trans-Iranian which connected it to the Caspian Sea via Tehran.
Because the oil industry offered a large number of comparatively well-paid jobs, the province attracted migrants from all over Iran; in fact, apart from Tehran, it was the only part of Iran that served as magnet for young rural Iranians looking for a better life in urban centers.
Thanks to its abundant water resources and fertile plains, Khuzestan was also something of a breadbasket for the rest of the country.
The province was the home of Iran’s only navigable river, the mighty Karun, but also embraced other rivers: Karkeh, Jarrahi, Dez, Shush, Ramhormoz, Godar-Lander, Bahmanshir and Khersan among others. No other part of Iran had so many rivers and so much water.
At the time, the world’s largest oil refinery, that of Abadan, was located in Khuzestan, which for decades remained the biggest single regional producer of oil in the world.
The province also boosted one of the biggest ports of the greater Indian ocean region, at Khorramshahr, an ancient city that had once been the capital of the Khorramites, or Red-Shirt nationalist rebels led by Babak Khorrami. (Because of the red-Shirts, the port city was later known as Muhammarah in Islamic era.)
Khuzestan also had a special status as far as history and culture were concerned. The most important archaeological digs in Western Asia were located there with relics of Chogha-Zanbil, a reminder of the glory that the Elamite Empire been in its time, and of Shusha, the first capital of the Achaemenid Empire, the bas-relief of the Sassanid king Shahpour in Dezful and the remains of 2000-year-old churches in Izeh.
In the 1960s a campaign using the slogan “Go South, Young Man!” encouraged young Iranians to seek their future in Khuzestan, which faced an acute shortage of labor. Their mass arrival transformed the province’s traditional agriculture and by the mid-1970s Khuzestan boasted some of the most modern farms in the Middle East.
Thanks to abundant energy and water resources, Khuzestan quickly attracted other industries besides oil, including iron and steel, petrochemicals, and food processing. The province was also Iran’s number-one destination for stay-at-home tourists, especially in winter.
Khuzestan was something of a paradise on earth, you might regard me as a case of affliction by intense nostalgia. You may be right. But that’s how many Iranians at the time felt about a province that they regarded as the jewel in the crown of their nationhood.
At the time no one could imagine that the dreams we all had for our beloved Khuzestan would become a nightmare. But it has, thanks to four decades of misrule, incompetence, corruption and sheer brutality by the Khomeinist regime.
Because of lack of investment and a breakdown in maintenance services, many of Khuzestan’s oilfields are either producing below capacity or have been phased out of production altogether. Some fields, once among the biggest in the world, are now scripted into total production as minor players. Today, Khuzestan produces less than 20 per cent of the oil it did in 1977. Most of the province’s rivers, including the might Karun, are already dead or in the process of dying, as victims of ill-thought hydroelectric projects and rampant pollution.
Khorramshahr is now a ghost town with just 60 per cent of the population it had 40 years ago.
Khuzestan has become a net importer of food and a massive exporter of population to other parts of Iran. By some estimates, the province also has the lowest birthrate and in the country.
Last week, the government declared the province to be in “total crisis” with large numbers of people facing death caused by pollution, lack of water and power, and epidemics caused by lack of public hygiene structures.
Unable to cope with the “emergency situation,” the committee charged with managing “the crisis declared the province closed for three days a week as temperatures rose to 50 Celsius.
“Khuzestan is shut down,” said Kiyamarth Haji-Zadeh, the man in charge of “the crisis” in Ahvaz. “To ration electricity, reduce water consumption, to avoid unfortunate incidents, all economic units, offices, schools, banks and other institutions except fire brigades, police and emergency wards of hospitals will be closed on Wednesdays.”
This means a four-day working week for those Khuzestanis who still have a job.
When he seized power, Khomeini said in a notorious speech that the Shah had offered Iranians paradise in this world to deprive them of paradise in the next world, boasting that his Islamic Republic will provide both.
Naturally, we don’t know about the next world; but in this world the ayatollah turned a corner of paradise that was Khuzestan into a veritable hell.

MAN VS MACHINE: AI-POWERED IBM ROBOT, DEVELOPED IN ISRAEL, DEBATES HUMANS

By Ben Huang, No Camels July 05, 2018
IBM, the American multinational technology company, unveiled a unique project last month that made international headlines: a system powered by artificial intelligence (AI) that can debate humans.
Dubbed Project Debater, it was developed over six years in IBM’s Haifa research division in Israel.
At the unveiling two weeks ago in San Francisco, the system engaged in its first-ever live, public debate. Its opponents were two Israeli debate champions. Israel’s 2016 debate champion Noa Ovadia took on the system for a discussion on whether space exploration should be subsidized by the government. Dan Zafrir, a professional debater, argued Project Debater on the value of telemedicine and whether it should be used more widely.
Each side delivered a four-minute opening statement, a four-minute rebuttal, and a two-minute summary, according to a June 18 post by IBM Research Director Arvind Krishna
The humans were said to have won, but by a close call. According to anaudience survey cited by Krishna in an interview with Fox News, the computer lacked the persuasive speaking nuances of the debate champs but possessed more knowledge on the topics. Krishna wrote that IBM “selected from a curated list of topics to ensure a meaningful debate. But Project Debater was never trained on the topics.”
This week, Project Debater performed once again against two human debaters, this time in Israel where the team behind the project proudly displayed it.
At the event at IBM’s Givatayim offices held for local press, the system this time challenged Israeli professional debaters Yaar Bach and Hayah Goldlist-Eichler on mass surveillance methods, and genetic engineering, respectively.
IBM’s Israel CEO and country manager Daniel Melka told the audience that the company developed “very special technology” that is “a significant milestone in the development of Artificial Intelligence technology,” according to the Times of Israel.
In a video presentation ahead of the unveiling, Noam Slonim, the principal investigator of Project Debater and senior technical staff member (STSM) at the IBM Haifa Research Lab, said the goal of the project was “to demonstrate that we can have a meaningful and viable discussion between men and machine.”
Project Debater, Krishna wrote, “moves us a big step closer to one of the great boundaries in AI: mastering language. It is the latest in a long line of major AI innovations at IBM, which also include “Deep Blue,” the IBM system that took on chess world champion Garry Kasparov in 1997, and IBM Watson, which beat the top human champions on Jeopardy! in 2011.”
IBM’s recent developments in machine thinking surpass that of existing products such as Apple’s Siri and Amazon’s Alexa. These devices primarily recite rote information, whereas Project Debater uses facts to reason and construct arguments on topics that have no right or wrong answers. According to IBM, the technology accomplishes this through first recognizing opponents’ arguments through Watson Speech to Text. Then, it identifies relevant expressions in its database of hundreds of millions of articles from trusted journals and magazines. Lastly, it eliminates redundancies, prioritizes arguments and composes coherent English speech.
“Subsidizing space exploration is like investing in really good tires,” Project Debater rebutted Ovadia in the government-sponsored space research debate in San Francisco. “It may not be fun to spend the extra money, but ultimately you know both you and everyone else on the road will be better off.” It further argued that space exploration also inspires the younger generation to pursue careers in science and technology.
The computer also attempted to make jokes during the debate. “You are speaking at the extremely fast rate of 218 words per minute. There is no need to hurry,” Project Debater told Ovadia.
Up against Zafrir in the telemedicine debate, the system admonished its opponent saying: “Fighting technology means fighting human ingenuity.”
And in the debate this week against Goldlist-Eichler, who, for the sake of argument expressed her suspicions ofthe safety of technological advancement, Project Debater said: “I can’t say this is getting on my nerves, because I don’t have any.”
The project is being hailed as the onset of a new era for human-machine interaction. Krishna says IBM’s mission was to develop broad AI that learns across different disciplines to augment human intelligence.
“AI assistants have become highly useful to us through their ability to conduct sophisticated keyword searches and respond to simple questions or requests (such as “how many ounces in a liter?” or “call Mom”),” he wrote, adding that Project Debater “explores new territory” by absorbing “massive and diverse sets of information and perspectives to help people build persuasive arguments and make well-informed decisions.”
IBM proposes this precise idea behind the merits of Project Debater.
“The value of this technology is really to allow decision makers to take more informed decisions,” Slonim stated at the unveiling. Dr. Ranit Aharonov, a manager on Project Debater team at the IBM Haifa Research Lab, also elaborated that the team hopes the intelligent machine will augment conversation through stating relevant facts and arguments. This assists legislators and day-to-day users through “providing compelling, evidence-based arguments and limiting the influence of emotion, bias, or ambiguity,” according to the project’s official site.
And Krishna said Project Debater could become “the ultimate fact-based sounding board without the bias that often comes from humans.”
The limitations
Project Debater has its limitations. The system is currently programmed to follow a strict 20-minute debate format for 100 topics, according to The New York Times.
Furthermore, Wired magazine reported that Project Debater sometimes failed to address certain points and to construct rebuttals in line with the opponents, and provide real-life context for its arguments.
Krishna acknowledged that building the system was a “remarkably difficult and complex challenge,” and that it makes mistakes, “just like people.”
Though the Israeli team built Project Debater with three ground-breaking AI capabilities (data-driven speech writing and delivery, listening comprehension that can identify key claims hidden within long continuous spoken language, and modeling human dilemmas in a unique knowledge graph to enable principled arguments), the system must still learn to “adapt to human rationale and propose lines of argument that people can follow.”
“Debate rules stem from a human culture of discussion and are not arbitrary, and the value of arguments is often inherently subjective…In debate, AI must learn to navigate our messy, unstructured human world as it is – not by using a pre-defined set of rules, as in a board game,” he wrote.
AI potential
Similar projects in the AI sphere include Google Duplex, a conversation chatbot capable of rapid reasoning to maintain conversation with humans. Notably, it mimics speech nuances including hesitation after hearing a complex sentence, restatement during interruptions and the use of filler words.
Unlike Project Debater, which had a heavily robotic female voice, Duplex’s technology makes it sound like an authentic person. The tech, also developed in Israel, was unveiled in May at Google’s annual I/O developer conference in Mountain View, California, where CEO Sundar Pichai aired a recorded phone call of the system making a haircut appointment.
SEE ALSO: Need A Dinner Reservation? Israeli Tech Powers Google’s New Human-Sounding Assistant To Book It
At the same time, Microsoft has developed Xiaoice, a Chinese human-imitating chatbot capable of handling similar tasks through telephone.
These innovations did not suddenly arise without previous efforts. As Krishna mentioned, in 1997, IBM developed Deep Blue, a chess-playing computer that defeated Russian grandmaster Gary Kasparov. This was proceeded by Watson, another IBM computer that defeated champions Brad Rutter and Ken Jennings in Jeopardy in 2011. More recently in 2017, Google’s DeepMind developed AlphaGo, which defeated world champion Ke Jie in Go, claimed to be the world’s most complex game. GODDESS BLESS YOU: POPE FRANCIS KEEPS PREACHING THE NEW AGE GAIA GOSPEL OF CLIMATE CHANGE AND MOTHER EARTH

Pope Francis urged governments on Friday to make good on their commitments to curb global warming, warning that climate change, continued unsustainable development and rampant consumption threatens to turn the Earth into a vast pile of “rubble, deserts and refuse.” Pope Francis made the appeal at a Vatican conference marking the third anniversary of his landmark environmental encyclical “Praise Be.”
In his remarks, Pope Francis urged governments to honor their Paris commitments and said institutions like the IMF and World Bank had important roles to play in encouraging reforms promoting sustainable development.
When the Catholic Church was first created by the Roman government in the early 300’s AD, it began with a hostile takeover of biblical Christianity and swallowed it whole. Pagan Roman holidays became “christian” holidays, yada yada yada, and the Whore of Babylon was born.
“And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration.” Revelation 17:5,6 (KJV)
In 2018, Jesuit priest Jorge Mario Bergoglio, also known as Pope Francis, is on a quest to restore political power to the multi-headed Vatican monster. If you have been paying any kind of attention at all, you know that Pope Francis is much more interested in becoming King Francis as he dives further and further into political issues of the day.

He warned that climate change was a challenge of “epochal proportions.” READ MORE
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” Ephesians 2:8,9 (KJV)
There has never been a pope in the last 1,700 years that ever once preached Paul’s gospel of the grace of God. They like to use buzz words like “born again” and “salvation by grace through faith” to confuse biblically-illiterate Christians, but they certainly don’t mean what those terms imply.
Pope Francis infamously remarked last year that a PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS CHRIST IS DANGEROUS AND HARMFUL, and should be avoided at all costs. No, there cannot be any ‘reconciliation’ between Roman Catholic system and the true Christian Church, the Body of Christ, because Rome was never a part of it. It started out as a pagan organization in 325 AD, and today they are like the wolf in the hen house wearing a chicken mask, pecking at corn and trying to blend in.
Keep an eye on Jorge Bergoglio, he is currently the Roman pope but he wants desperately to become the king that Revelation 17 and 18 says he will be.

MAN VS MACHINE: AI-POWERED IBM ROBOT, DEVELOPED IN ISRAEL, DEBATES HUMANS

ADMINISTRATOR:  This is wrong, and totally ungodly. God created mankind to inhabit the Earth, and have a co-relation with him, this is Satanic.
http://nocamels.com/2018/07/ai-ibm-robot-israel-debate/ – By Ben Huang, NoCamels July 05, 2018

At the same time, Microsoft has developed Xiaoice, a Chinese human-imitating chatbot capable of handling similar tasks through telephone.
These innovations did not suddenly arise without previous efforts. As Krishna mentioned, in 1997, IBM developed Deep Blue, a chess-playing computer that defeated Russian grand-master Gary Kasparov. This was proceeded by Watson, another IBM computer that defeated champions Brad Rutter and Ken Jennings in Jeopardy in 2011. More recently in 2017, Google’s Deep-Mind developed Alpha-Go, which defeated world champion Ke Jie in Go, claimed to be the world’s most complex game. These developments attest to the tremendous potential of intelligent computer thinking.
