Matthew 24:3-14 3 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?” 4 And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. 6 And you will hear of wars and rumours of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all[a] these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences,[b] and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows. 9 “Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. 10 And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another.
11 Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. 12 And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. 13 But he who endures to the end shall be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.

RUSSIAN MILITARY PLANE WITH 14 SOLDIERS ON BOARD SHOT DOWN IN SYRIA AS ISRAEL TAKES OUT CHEMICAL WEAPONS FACILITY

http://www.nowtheendbegins.com/
A Russian spy plane that disappeared from radar off the Syrian coast is believed to have been accidentally shot down during a missile strike. The Russian Defence Ministry reported losing contact with the Il-20 aircraft carrying 14 people at around 8 pm last night.  A report given to Sputnik said: “On
September 17, at about 11 p.m. Moscow time [20:00 GMT], the communication with the crew of the
Russian Il-20 aircraft was lost when it was over the Mediterranean Sea, some 35 kilometres from the Syrian coast, on its way back to Hmeimim airbase.” US officials have reported the Syrian army shot down the Russian plane while trying to thwart an alleged Israeli airstrike. Russian state news TASS said the IL-20 disappeared over the Mediterranean on Monday evening at the same time as the suspected strike.  A Syrian facility linked to the country’s chemical weapons program was bombed on Monday night, triggering Syrian air defences, state media reported.
14 Russian servicemen aboard plane which went missing over Mediterranean; Syria claims 2 killed after Israel fires missiles from Lebanese airspace toward chemical weapons-linked facility in Latakia
The Middle East was rocked tonight as a Russian military jet with 14 soldiers on-board was shot down as Israel launched airstrikes from Lebanese airspace on a chemical weapons depot in the Syrian city of Latakia. Israel is saying the Russian jet was shot down accidentally by Syrian forces, while others are saying that it was American Tomahawk missiles that were behind the strike.
Russia is demanding answers, Israel is refusing to comment, and America says the Russian jet was shot down by Syria. There will be very little sleep in the Middle East tonight.
FROM TIMES OF ISRAEL: A Russian military plane with 14 servicemen aboard was accidentally shot down by Syrian air defences as they tried to repel an alleged Israeli strike on Monday, a US official told CNN. The official added that the plane was downed by a Russian-made missile system which was sold to Syria.

The state-run Al-Ikhbariya TV reported loud explosions in the coastal Latakia province, saying they were likely from Israeli strikes targeting a state company for technical industries.
The Syrian army said that Israel fired missiles from Lebanese airspace, adding that two people were killed in the attack and the facility was severely damaged, Hadashot reported early Tuesday. A spokesperson for the US Department of Defense denied that the American military was behind the attack, telling the Voice of America news outlet, “I can unequivocally say this is not us.” READ MORE

The official SANA news agency said the Technical Industry Institution in the state-controlled city had been targeted, adding it isn’t known who fired the missiles.
Russian radars registered missiles launched from a French frigate and recorded four Israeli jets over Syria at the time of the attack, Russia Today reports.
The Israeli military refused to comment on claims they were behind the attack on Syria.
This comes hours after Turkey and Russia agreed to establish a buffer zone in the Idlib province of Syria.
Vladimir Putin today announced a 15-20km-wide zone would be set up by October 15.
Under the deal, all heavy weaponry, including tanks, rocket launch systems and mortar launchers operated by rebel groups would need to be pulled out of the buffer zone by 10 October.

Ten Injured in Israel’s Night Strike on Latakia
The number of those injured in Israel’s night strikes on facilities in Syria’s Latakia province has reached 10; no one on the ground was killed, hospital officials told Sputnik.
Earlier, human rights activists had told Sputnik that seven people were injured.

Kremlin Says Situation Is Being Analyzed
“I won’t give any estimates now. The situation is being analyzed. You know that the first data revealed by this analysis have already been presented in the Defense Ministry’s statement, and quite an unequivocal estimate has been given of these actions, which have been called provocative, so there is no need now to add anything to the clear message given by our Defense Ministry. All the rest [will be announced] later,” Peskov said, commenting on the situation.

He also stressed that even if the Kremlin is extremely concerned about the events that led to the plane’s destruction, the incident with the aircraft will not affect implementation of the Russia-Turkey memorandum on Syria, adopted by the countries’ leaders on September 17.
“No, this incident will not affect it in any way. This is an important, breakthrough agreement. It is crucial for the future of Syria; it has once again confirmed the ability of both Moscow and Ankara to reach a compromise and effective decisions in the interests of the ultimate goal: settlement of the Syrian conflict, by political and diplomatic means,” Peskov said.

RUSSIA BLAMES ISRAEL FOR DOWNED PLANE – THREATENS ‘COUNTERMEASURES’

http://prophecyupdate.blogspot.com/
Russia summons Israeli envoy after warning of response over downed plane
The Russian Foreign Ministry summoned Israel’s ambassador Tuesday afternoon, state media reported, as Moscow fumed over the Syrian downing of a military plane that it said was the result of an Israeli “provocation.”
The summons came hours after Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu told his Israeli counterpart Avigdor Liberman that Moscow was holding Israel fully responsible for the downing of the aircraft and threatened possible “countermeasures,” amid fears the incident could send ties between Moscow and Jerusalem spiraling.
According to Russia’s Defense Ministry, Israeli jets carrying out an airstrike on a Syrian target in Latakia used the Russian Il-20 reconnaissance plane as cover. Syrian air defenses attempting to repel the attack hit the Russian plane, which had 15 Russian service members on board.
Israel, which does not normally acknowledge specific strikes in Syria, has refused to comment on the incident.
“We consider these provocative actions by Israel as hostile. Fifteen Russian military service members have died because of the irresponsible actions of the Israeli military. This is absolutely contrary to the spirit of the Russian-Israeli partnership,” the Russian military said in a statement, according to Russia Today, a Kremlin-linked news outlet.
In the phone call, Shoigu told Liberman that Russia “reserves the right to further countermeasures” against Israel, according to the state-run Interfax news outlet.
Shoigu added that the “actions of the Israeli Defense Ministry fail to match the spirit of Russian-Israeli partnership,” according to Interfax.
“Israel was repeatedly asked not to deliver strikes on Syria endangering Russian personnel,” Interfax quoted Shoigu as telling Liberman.
Liberman’s office confirmed that the minister had spoken with Shoigu, but said it “would not comment beyond that.”
The Russian government spokesperson refused to comment when asked if Russian President Vladmir Putin and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would speak about the matter.
It was not immediately clear how the downing of the Ilyushin Il-20 plane would affect the ongoing cooperation between Israel and Russia in Syria.
According to Moscow, at approximately 10 p.m., four Israeli F-16 fighter jets approached western Syria from the sea and fired dozens of missiles at the facility, a Syrian defense ministry subsidiary with ties to the country’s chemical weapons and missile programs.
Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov told the state-run TASS news agency that Israel knew the reconnaissance plane was there and used it as cover to carry out the airstrike.
“By using the Russian plane as a cover the Israeli air pilots made it vulnerable to Syrian air defense fire. As a result, the Ilyushin-20, its reflective surface being far greater than that of F-16, was downed by a missile launched with the S-200 system,” Konashenkov said.
Syria’s state media had reported Monday night that a state company for technical industries was bombed, likely by Israel, triggering their air defenses.
Two people were killed in the strike and eight more were injured, according to the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which said the target appeared to be an ammunition depot, part of the company’s compound. The war monitoring group said it was not clear if the depot was for Iranian or Syrian forces.

‘LAND CORRIDORS’ BETWEEN IRAN AND ISRAEL’S BORDERS: SETTING THE STAGE FOR GOG-MAGOG

http://prophecyupdate.blogspot.com/
Allowing Iran’s land bridge to Syria – an Israeli mistake like ignoring Egyptian and Syrian 1973 war preparations
Marking the anniversary of the Yom Kippur War, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu vowed never to repeat Israel’s mistake of not ordering a pre-emptive attack. Addressing a cabinet meeting on Sunday, Sept. 16, Netanyahu said that Israeli military intelligence “erred once in missing the war preparations afoot [by Russia, Egypt and Syria] and “the government erred twice by omitting to order a pre-emptive attack.” This mistake would not be repeated, he said.
However, 45 years later, in September 2018, DEBKAfile’s military analysts find Israel again missing the looming hazard of Iran’s two active land corridors between Iraq and Syria. Iranian and pro-Iranian Shiite militias are moving freely between Syria and Iraq. They are crossing the River Euphrates and passing back and forth through the southeastern Al Qaim border crossing and the Rabiya crossing in the northeast. While these movements do not hold the dramatic impact of the surprise Egyptian-Syrian invasions of 1973, they are no less dangerous in strategic terms.
In the past week, Russian media attempted to deflect attention from this critical development by highlighting a Syrian operation against ISIS: The Syrian army is dealing the final blow to the last enclaves of Daesh fighters in a desert in Central Syria between Homs, Deir ez-Zour and Damacus, they reported. “The army managed to liberate vast areas, destroy dozens of militants and shelters that were located in the rocks.”
However, Russia’s main purpose in engineering the Syrian attack was to clear the ISIS hazard from the Iranian Al Qaim route between Iraq and Syria. It also came in response to a large scale live-fire exercise conducted by the US army and its Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) proxy in the same region up until Saturday, Sept. 15, which Moscow, Tehran and Damascus saw as a threat to their corridor from Iraq.
These corridors have become a major bone of contention over which the US, Russia, Syria and Iran are fighting, because it is the key to Iran’s solid, long-term military presence in Syria.
Although in August, President Donald Trump flipped from his insistence on pulling US troops out of Syria to a decision to leave them there for now, he may have missed the train. Attempts to shut the Iranian land bridges down at this stage will by now entail a major clash with Russian forces.
In some ways, this standoff recalls a scarcely reported situation in the Yom Kippur War: When the US and Israel discovered that the Russian ships steaming towards Egypt were carrying nuclear weapons, both hurried to place their armies on nuclear alert.  Today, with both big powers concentrating massive naval and air might in the Mediterranean and Red Sea, a big power flareup may not be far off.
For Israel, the open land bridges for Iranian and Hizballah military movements are a major security menace.
It must be admitted that Israel’s repeated air and missile strikes on Iranian and Hizballah targets in Syria hardly scratch the surface. Although some arms shipments are destroyed, even the most effective bombardments and clever intelligence can’t be sure to catch every last Iranian arms consignment carried thousands of kilometers from Iran through Iraq. Some of those weapons almost certainly reach the battlefield.
Some, too, are also being delivered by sea to Syria and Hizballah in Lebanon and unloaded in Latakia and Tartus under the eagle eyes of Russian air defense crews, where Israel does not operate.
When Netanyahu vowed not to repeat the Golda Meir government’s mistake in holding back from a pre-emptive operation, he omitted to explain what was behind it. Indeed nothing much has changed from that day to the present. Then, Golda and Defense Minister Moshe Dayan were held back by concern about Washington’s response. Today too, Netanyahu understands that Israel is not free to take independent action for destroying Iran’s land corridors without the Trump administration’s approval.

UPDATE: PENTAGON SAYS RUSSIAN PLANE SHOT DOWN BY SYRIAN DEFENSE RESPONDING TO ISRAELI ATTACK

http://prophecyupdate.blogspot.com/
Pentagon Says Russian Plane Shot Down By Syrian Defense Responding To Israeli Attack
update 3: In a breaking report CNN has cited Pentagon officials who say the missing Russian aircraft with 14 service members on board, now subject of a Russian search-and-rescue operation, was accidentally shot down by Syrian missile defense.
Pentagon sources say further that Israel was responsible for the nighttime attack, which reportedly involved strikes by air and possibly by sea from the Mediterranean. Israel has yet to issue comment.
But Russia says its radar picked up a French warship firing in the area just before the Russian patrol aircraft went down.
According to CNN
A Russian maritime patrol aircraft with multiple personnel on board was inadvertently shot down by Syrian regime anti-aircraft artillery on Monday after the Syrians came under attack by Israeli missiles, according to a US official with knowledge of the incident
The US official said the regime was actually trying to stop a barrage of Israeli missiles. A second official confirmed that Israel was responsible for the missile strikes on the Syrian regime.
The Pentagon sources cite a radio broadcast in making the claim of an accidental shootdown, however it’s not clear if their assessment is based on actual US intelligence or speculation.

— Military Advisor (@miladvisor) September 18, 2018
The CNN report continues:
The US found out about the incident because Syrian forces broadcast an emergency search and rescue radio call on an international frequency. The US then got a direct message from another country about the type of aircraft and circumstances of the incident. The official would not identify that country, but it is likely that Russia is the only nation that would know exactly what type of aircraft was shot down.
The Pentagon formally denied any US role in the attack soon after it was first reported.
This is sure to evoke a new round of dangerous and fierce US-Russia controversy over Syria as already there are accusations and counter-accusations amidst the breaking reports.
So a Russian Military Plane with 14 personnel on-board goes missing the same time Israel was launching strikes in Syria, and Syrian air defenses were firing en-mass in response, and a French Frigate reportedly launched a missile at the same time near the Syrian coast. #Problem

update 2: The Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD) reports in the aftermath of Monday night’s wide-scale attack on multiple locations in Syria that a Russian military Il-20 aircraft with 14 service members on board is not detectable via radar, and that a rescue mission is underway.
And alarmingly RT claims the following citing the Russian Defense MinistryRussian radars also registered the launch of missiles from a French frigate in the Mediterranean on the evening of September 17. The MoD also said it observed a French frigate in the area at the time.
Reports TASS via a Russian defense official:
“On September 17, at about 11:00 Moscow time, the connection with the crew of the Russian Il-20 aircraft was lost over the Mediterranean Sea when the plane was returning to the airbase of Khmeimim, 35 kilometers from the coast of Syria,” the official said.
The ministry specified that “the mark of IL-20 went off the radars disappeared during the attack of four Israeli F-16 aircraft on Syrian targets in the province of Latakia.”
“At the same time, the Russian radars fixed missile launches from the French frigate Auvergne, which was in that area,” the Defense Ministry said.
The official also said that there were 14 servicemen on board and their fate is unknown. The command of Russia’s air base at Khmeimim launched a search and rescue operation.
update: The Pentagon has formally denied that tonight’s massive sustained attack on Syria had US involvement.
US-funded VOA News reports a Pentagon spokesman issuing the following statement: “I can unequivocally say this is not us,” said Navy Cmdr. Sean Robertson.
Regional sources report, citing Syrian officials, that Monday night’s attack involved “cruise missiles fired from the sea”.
Pentagon spokesman Navy Cmdr. Sean Robertson tells VOA on Syrian claims of engaging missile targets over #Latakia “I can unequivocally say this is not us.” #BREAKING @VOANews
— Carla Babb (@CarlaBabbVOA) September 17, 2018
Earlier:
Another attack on Syria has occurred tonight on multiple locations in what is the largest sustained series of what are believed to be Israeli or possibly US air strikes in months. But hugely significant is that early reports suggest Russia’s S-400 anti-missile missile defense system engaged the inbound rockets.
On Monday night Syrian state-run SANA confirmed multiple missiles fired “from the sea into Lattakia city” in “an aggression from unknown source” which state media says involved successful intercepts by Syrian missile defense.
British-Syrian journalist Danny Makki, currently reporting from the ground, says the attack “lasted for a total of 1 hour 30 minutes” and missiles soared over four cities including Latakia, Tartus, Homs and Hama — with rockets and explosions lighting up the sky especially over the coastal towns.
Though it appears another Israeli strike – as it came less than two days following an attack near Damascus – the details are still unknown, and some observers are speculating it could be an American attack, given that at least some of the missiles were fired from the sea.

THE INGREDIENTS FOR THE NEXT MARKET CRASH ARE PRESENT, ALL THAT IS MISSING IS THE CATALYST

http://prophecyupdate.blogspot.com/
The Ingredients Of An “Event”
This past week marked the 10th-Anniversary of the collapse of Lehman Brothers. Of course, there were many articles recounting the collapse and laying blame for the “great financial crisis” at their feet. But, as is always the case, an “event” is always the blame for major reversions rather than the actions which created the environment necessary for the crash to occur. In the case of the “financial crisis,” Lehman was the “event” which accelerated a market correction that was already well underway.
I have noted the topping process and the point where we exited the markets. Importantly, while the market was giving ample signals that something was going wrong, the mainstream analysis continued to promote the narrative of a “Goldilocks Economy.” It wasn’t until December of 2008, when the economic data was negatively revised, the recession was revealed.
Of course, the focus was the “Lehman Moment,” and the excuse was simply: “no one could have seen it coming.”
But many did. In December of 2007 we wrote:
“We are likely in, or about to be in, the worst recession since the ‘Great Depression.’”
A year later, we knew the truth.
Throughout history, there have been numerous “financial events” which have devastated investors. The major ones are marked indelibly in our financial history: “The Crash Of 1929,” “The Crash Of 1974,” “Black Monday (1987),” “The Dot.Com Crash,” and the “The Financial Crisis.”
Each of these previous events was believed to be the last. Each time the “culprit” was addressed and the markets were assured the problem would not occur again. For example, following the crash in 1929, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and the 1940 Securities Act, were established to prevent the next crash by separating banks and brokerage firms and protecting against another Charles Ponzi. (In 1999, legislation was passed to allow banks and brokerages to reunite. 8-years later we had a financial crisis and Bernie Madoff. Coincidence?)
The real crisis comes when there is a “run on pensions.” With a large number of pensioners already eligible for their pension, the next decline in the markets will likely spur the “fear” that benefits will be lost entirely. The combined run on the system, which is grossly underfunded, at a time when asset prices are dropping will cause a debacle of mass proportions. It will require a massive government bailout to resolve it.
But it doesn’t end there. Consumers are once again heavily leveraged with sub-prime auto loans, mortgages, and student debt. When the recession hits, the reduction in employment will further damage what remains of personal savings and consumption ability. The downturn will increase the strain on an already burdened government welfare system as an insufficient number of individuals paying into the scheme is being absorbed by a swelling pool of aging baby-boomers now forced to draw on it. Yes, more Government funding will be required to solve that problem as well.
As debts and deficits swell in coming years, the negative impact to economic growth will continue. At some point, there will be a realization of the real crisis. It isn’t a crash in the financial markets that is the real problem, but the ongoing structural shift in the economy that is depressing the living standards of the average American family. There has indeed been a redistribution of wealth in America since the turn of the century. Unfortunately, it has been in the wrong direction as the U.S. has created its own class of royalty and serfdom.
All the ingredients for the next market crash are currently present. All that is current missing is the “catalyst” which ignites it all.
There are many who currently believe “bear markets” and “crashes” are a relic of the past. Central banks globally now have the financial markets under their control and they will never allow another crash to occur. Maybe that is indeed the case. However, it is worth remembering that such beliefs were always present when, to quote Irving Fisher, “stocks are at a permanently high plateau.”
